Obama hits Fox News

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama used an immigration speech Tuesday to take a jab at News Corporation CEO, Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News Channel.

Obama quoted the CEO, an Australian native, who said "Immigrants have made America great as the world leader in business, science, higher education and innovation."

"That's Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News, and an immigrant himself," Obama said. "I don't know if you're familiar with his views, but let's just say he doesn't have an Obama bumper sticker on his car."

The president was in El Paso, Texas to advocate for immigration reform as a way to strengthen the middle class, among other things.

"I want incomes for middle class families to rise again," Obama said. "I want prosperity in this country to be widely shared; I want everybody to be able to reach that American dream and that's why immigration reform is an economic imperative."

  2. Seriously?

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

If you don't know what the above is from, please try and educate yourself before opening your mouth or typing anything. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The only "legal" immigrants in this nation are the native americans who migrated here thousands of years ago from Africa. Yes, I know it's hard for some to understand, but human life originated in Africa and people migrated over land bridges at the time. Surprise, you're technically the result of an "anchor baby."

Republicans / FOX love to rewrite history to suit their sorry excuses. Anyone who votes republican making less than $250K a year is a complete moron because your voting for a party that doesn't care about you or your interests.

Monster Zero – Thank you for proving my point dude.
So because 'Barry' does NOT follow your agenda... 'when you all wake up and figure it out it may be too late and the America that was prosperous will then be some lacky Nation of segregated and fragmented ethnic retards.'
America was and is prosperous dude, yeah it is in the middle of a big economic crisis but it is also managing to get out of it (thanks to the American people, regardless of political affiliation, faith, race, etc...) and the polcies of the US govt.
You probably will ask me (or tell me) to wake up due to the last words of the previous paragraph...
Sorry dude, those 'economists' who were against the 'stimulus programs' are either saying 'I stand corrected' or having a hard time to be still influential without basing their arguments on reliable data and sources.
The politics who ran their campaigns last year on 'Jobs! Jobs! And more jobs' have not produced ONE single law that can be attached to the decline of the unemployment numbers (simply because anything that the House might have approved that was solely backed up by them is either dead in the Senate or have not reached it yet), so whose fault is it?
And there's the little fact that those same politics have a huge disposition to not work with the govt. (when they at least would need to do that in order to get their laws approved) in any circumstance.
So who needs to 'wake up'?

“Illegal immigrants” are not stealing your jobs. Illegal immigrants are not taking jobs of pilots, air traffic controllers, nurses, doctors, teachers, technicians or skilled workers. Those jobs are lost because of corporate greed, deregulations, bigotry and lobbyists.

Of course, why point out the root cause? Let’s pin it on “illegal immigrants”.

We all know that phrase just means minorities who stand out in the White America.

The truth is that right wing, gun carrying "I'm an American" white trash is being threatened that they are no longer the ruling class. They fear that we could have a president and a majority of any race, creed, religion or preferably no religion. You can see that fear by reading the comments on here. They criticize generalities without making a real arguement. Obama got more done in two years than Bush in his entire life.

Democrats are the one who rewrote history! Anyone remember that the Democrats wrote the Jim Crow laws and tried to filibuster the Civil Rights bills in the 1960's. THe Republicans have always opposed any slavery and voted for civil rights for all. FACTS! Check them siometime.

Yes there is simply not enough consensus to revisit this difficult argument. The problem as I see it here in my border state...
is that there are just waaaaaaaaaaay too many illegals that have taken advantage of the system. We all know we are a nation of immigrants. But America can not sustain 10 – 30 million illegals, their children, their education, their sense of entitlement. The illegals have abused the weakness of our laws...we need to take care of our own citizens first. Sorry this doesn't make any sense...especially since our unemployment is still sky high.

GFLDED – I know, what I meant to say was that your point is one of the easiest ways to debunk the anti-immigration (legal or not) groups in Europe's propaganda... And yet they still use their 'Job stealers!!!' excuses (which they started to use in the late 70's...) to this day!

I like how everyone is complaining about the difference between a legal immigrant and illegal immigrants. Yet how do you suggest we foster legal immigration rather than people swimming to the US to escape persecution? Here's an idea: establish a reasonable path to citizenship. The truth of the matter is that most American citizens couldn't pass the citizenship test that immigrants have to take. If we can make it more reasonable for people to become legal citizens, then they will have to pay taxes and contribute to society in a meaningful way. What is happening now is a bunch of people hiding from the authorities for fear of being captured and deported, so activities like payment under the table is happening.

  13. Learn the facts not the sound bites and political propaganda!!!!

when will some of u Americans actually try to understand issues before u spout nonsense. there is a difference between legal and illegal immigration and legal immigrants have some protection and rights and are able to pursue careers in education, jobs or the purpose of their visa. if u are an illegal u cannot apply for food stamps!, you canot get a driver license!, you cannot hold a job legally or enjoy most of the benefits of citizens and legal immigrants. men sometimes i wonder is some of u live ur lives blind folded or your just that ignorant or set in your political views that u cant understand what happens around you. when u went to apply for driver license were u not asked for birth certificate proof of legal residence?, when u apply for govt benefits you must have a valid social security number which is not availaible to illegals only citizens and some legal aliens. when you buy a home or get a car loan or open bank accounts or do some things you need make your life easier you have to show proof of legal residence and have a valid social security number. Nobody will give you a $35,000 loan for a car if you can run to mexico or across the border the next day. most illegals work under the table and get payed cash, they work for real cheap and most times are exploited by some of you and businesses who use that cheap labor until its time to throw them under the bus. those of u that have illegal immigrant nannys u pay peanuts and plumbers and ppl that do your odd jobs for little or nothing know this but pretend to saints or that its Obamas or the govts fault. If nobody needed illegal immigrants or used them they will stop coming. if you only hire americans and legal immigrants then they wil have no means to survive and will move back. the only ones that can survive if that happens are the highly skilled or educated ones in which case we can use thier expertise. after world war 1 most of the military technology we have today was brought by alot of german and european scientsist and inventors.

Is it just me or is this a sensationalized headline? Rupert praised immigrants. Obama said that Rupert praised immigrants.
I don't get anything other than setting the stage that anyone who is against his immigration policy is simply being partisan.

What's Fox got to do with anything here?
