Washington (CNNMoney.com) - A Senate Republican vow to block any nominee to lead the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau gives President Obama no choice but to appoint a head of that agency during congressional recess, a top House Democrat said Wednesday.
Last week, 44 Senate Republicans said they would not approve any nominee to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau without major changes that would weaken the power of the bureau and the bureau's chief.
FULL STORY
NO WAY OBAMA! YOU WILL NOT PROTECT THE CONSUMER! GOVERNMENT IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO HELP BUSINESS.
Stupid Republicans.
This crap needs to stop. Rules need to be changed to end this roadblocking.
My proposal is simple: The senate has 6 weeks to turn around their confirmation. If not the nominee get the postion. End of story and people can get to work. If they (the Senate) can't get this done in 6 weeks but have plenty of time to get in front of cameras to talk to the media they are wasting our time.
Time to end this!
do what you have to president Obama we know you will make the best choice. you"re the best man.
No way on obama
Mr President do what you have too.
Shove it up their conservative little bums. They can fire the apopintee and dismantle it when they manage to get themselves elected to the WH and take control of both chambers of Congress....and not before...which probably means never at this point. The only reason the GOP is pushing for this agency to be funded by Congress is so the GOP, which controls the House, can strangle it financially. And giving banks an overriding veto...can you say inmates running the prison? What the GOP wants is to turn this agency into a toothless puppet beholden to a GOP congress that can be turned around and used as a mouthipece to tell consumers "everything is alright...working as intended...there is nothing to worry or complain about. Please return to your 12 hour per day 7 day per week jobs and flash the bar code portion of your identification tattoos at the digital time clocks on your way in so you can earn just enough money you can afford the consumer debt you amassed due to usury and fraud."
Obama should change the name of the bureau to "Big Business Protection Bureau." Republicans will sign up in no time.
I love all the people who say President Obama should "do what he has to". Try to remember that he is the same man who criticized George Bush for recess appointments and argued they were wrong. But then again, there are a lot of things that he campaigned against but didn't change.
We've been judging you on the company you keep for some time now Obama.
Keep it up.
