Egads, we don't need this idiot over there at this point screwing things up even more. Why can't these people just stay in DC and get this country's financial house in order before they go wasting money on all these trips?

Nice picture of Kerry. It looks like his fingers are describing how much he's done in the Senate since he was elected!

What we see and hear publicly during this trip will probably be very different from what occurs out of camera range. Despite a recent denial by Pakistan, the fact that it took their military almost 2 hours to launch aircraft speaks volumes. The delay means they were totally incompetent to defend their own nation (which I doubt. Not 2 hours), or they were conveniently looking the other way while the raid took place. Remember, there is travel time in, on the ground for 40 minutes, and travel time out. Pakistan did not get airborne until the US team was nearly back across the border.

As a resident of the People's Republic of Massachusetts, I personally will be praying that he stays there. Hey John... why the long face?

Perhaps while he is there, he could ask them why they turned over our helicopter to the Chinese, one of the two helicoptors used in the take down of Osama. Why are we paying these people a billion dollars a year when we can't trust them with confidential information. Isn't there some other way of getting supplies to Afganistan other than crossing their land? If we could find a solution to this problem we could tell them to take a hike and continue taking out terrorists on their land with our drones.

Why was John McCain in Libya? I can see why, Kerry, the Chairman of the Senate F.R.C. might have to go to Pakistan during this, ah, rather delicate time in our relations. But, what was John McCain actually doing in Libya? Any credible explanation will be accepted. Any maniacal rants will be categorically ignored.

With all due respect to the Senator, I hope he does not end up in Cambodia.

On a more serious note, I hope the Senator has a safe and beneficial trip. Pakistan definitely needs to answer why a) the rogue ISI elements within their nation have not been rounded up and assisted Bin Laden in hiding for a decade. b) provide a detailed account for how US dollars are being used. c) answer for the whereabouts of American hardware lost in the capture.

Maybe trying to figure out why the heck Obama has gotten us involved in a THIRD WAR in an arab nation that is in the middle of a civil war?

Maybe trying to find out who the heck these "rebels" are, unlike Obama, who doesn't seem to have a clue from his behind leadership style?

    need some more?

    S. in California – I agree, Kerry would make a great Secretary of State. Hilary Clinton has done a good job – I don't think she wants to do it for more than one term. Kerry would make a great 2nd term pick for the position though.

You mean like Boehner's trip to Afghanistan? Funny, I don't seem to remember you doing everything you could to characterize it as horrifying that he would do such a thing and spend the money on it. In fact, I'm willing to bet an arm that you used it as an opoprtunity to demagogue and regurgitate some trite, mealy-mouthed talking point about how awful you think Obama's foreign policies are and how he's botched the whole war effort or some such.

In any event, both diplomacy and visiting our troops are necessary and valid uses of our congresscritters' time and the money that goes with it, whether you like it or not.

@ Class Warfare (which the GOP has been actively engaged in for 30 years): Did you say the same thing when a bunch of Republicans visited Afghanistan last month? Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Mike Johanns (R-Neb.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) went in April.

Oh, and if anything is "destroying the country", it's the kind of selfishness, greed, and narowmindedness you exemplify.

We have no option but to give Pakistan aid. The problem is that the Pakistani Gov is corrupt so the $ does no good for the country. We must establish our ouwn team of ecomomists to spend that $ in a way that benefits that doesn't make it a breeding ground for these extremists. They have nothing like us( goals, career aspirations, family building, buying a car, etc) to look forward too. No jobs, no future. They use religion as a crutch. It used to be that high unemployment means a increase in crime. In Pakistan, it means a increase in extremists. If we cut off the aid, it will only get worse there, and in turn, worse for the rest of the planet. I'm saying the aid must continue and it we must ensure it goes to the right places so as to have a positive impact. What a messy situation. This is the lessor of the evils in my opinion.

McCain has been advocating that the US should get more involved. That is his position, and he was there to show us what was really going on in Libya and how much they needed our help to put the Colonel out of office.

I should also point out that he was on the edge of a "free fire" zone. That means US boots had to accompany him as traveled about a country in the midst of Civil War. If some misfortune had occured to Big John, then the US would have been forced into action with boots on the ground.

    Need more facts?

Wow, are you kidding? Can you imagine having a Secretary of State out there saying our troops are killing innocent women and children in the dead of the night? This guy is a joke, Hillary for President.

Right, it's always good to have someone with such little respect for the military heading up our diplomatic mission. Fits right in with Obama's need to appologize.
