Palin blasts White House's rapper invite

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined the anti-Common refrain Wednesday night, questioning the White House's judgment for inviting the rapper to participate in a poetry event.

"You know, the judgment, it's just so lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America with an invite like this," Palin said on Fox News Channel. "It's just so easy to assume that they're just inviting someone like me or somebody to ask, 'Come on, Barack Obama, who are you palling around with now?"

Common's presence at the event, which is part of Michelle Obama's White House Music Series, drew flack from media figures who pointed to lyrics from his songs, some of which use violent language against former President George W. Bush and police officers.

"This rapper, we thought that we were to be united under the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, in tamping down racism and inciting violence and cop killing, certainly, and killing a former president," Palin said. "All those things that this rapper has glorified and really is known for, it just certainly reflects a lack of judgment on the White House's part."

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney defended the decision, although he said the president "opposes those kind of lyrics."

"It's ironic to pick out those particular lyrics and – about this particular artist, when in fact, he's known as a socially conscious hip-hop artist or rapper who has done a lot of good things," Carney said.

Palin also took the opportunity to address her White House intentions, saying it is still too early to throw her hat in the ring. But she is "happy" former House Speaker Newt Gingrich decided to announce and is looking forward to more candidates jumping in to the race.

"The more competition the better," Palin said. "I'm not disappointed in the field thus far. I look forward to more jumping in there … competition breeds success. Competition is good for all of us in business, in politics. The more the merrier in a primary."

Seriously, if Palin wants to pick this fight...SHE WILL HAVE EGGS ON HER FACE!!!

This issue has been brewing underground on conservative blogs, and people in the modern world - WHO LISTEN TO HIP HOP AND RAP - are ready to stand with Common. So go right ahead. He is allowed to have his stands on certain issues, but he does not incite violence like Snooki Palin!! This is messing with young and/or Black people. Common has very strong fan base. He is not a hip hop artist. People who listen to Common UNDERSTAND HIM and LOVE HIM. He is not the type of artist that his hip, his fan based is deeply rooted in the message that he carries and they will call out the right's lies about him being a "vile" rapper.

THEY NEVER HEARD OF COMMON BEFORE THIS WEEK. They have no idea who they are messing with.

This coming from someone that had taken every step she and her layers can to hide emails from the public about things she obviously does not want anyone to read. Especially legal folks that could see how many things they did that were not above board. She is irrelevant. This is certainly not coming from someone that watched what her own kids were doing. One caught for vandalism and the other a teen out of wed-lock pregnancy. Go away and stay away, you are a nobody!

dishonesty is Palin's defining characteristic. I'm no fan of rap but this guy talks AGAINST the things she is accusing him of. THAT'S why he was invited to the White House. of course, none of her duped followers have even heard of this guy so they will believe whatever lies she spews. meanwhile, I'm guessing she has right wing wacko Ted Nugent on her playlist. talk about espousing violence!

  12. Republican's Are Fraud's !

Hey Palin ! Shut up ! You don't know the first thing about this ! I am so tired of this insufferable woman ! John McCain should be slapped for unleashing this crazy person on us ! I see what her thing is now , she just want's to follow the President's every move and criticize anything ! I could see if it was some awful person but " Common " is about the closest thing to a Will Smith type out there ! This is utterly ridiculous and it is sounding like the republican's are becoming more and more desperate ! President Obama just knows how to get younger voter's to vote and they can't stand it !

  14. Every two days another GOP nut shows up

I hate to sound like a broken record but the Repubs and Fox news are the only ones who are paying attention to this story. Everyone else is going on with their daily lives. Someone needs to tell these guys and gals that this issue has no legs to it. You know why it has no importance to the normal American (outside of the deep south and Idaho/Montana)? Because we all have better things to care about. Things like family, home, work, shopping, paying our bills, playing with our kids, etc. Apparently the commentators at Fox news and Crazy Sarah don't. She needs to come to my workplace. I can dump some of my work off on her.

Will someone in the republican party PLEASE bring sanity back! No, no... not Hannity.. Sanity! Listen guys, gals, and power brokers of the GOP... stop this. When will George Will slap them back into reality? Look, politics is messy and self serving. Both parties are guilty and it has pretty much always been this way, but somehow somethng just isn't right with Reagan's revolution anymore. When a commedian (John Stewart) seems 1000% smarter than any of the talking heads, you've lost credibility. Frankly, the BEST thing the GOP can do is to take the power over their policies back from Fox news.

"You know, the judgment, it's just so lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America with an invite like this," Palin said on Fox News Channel.

You know, the statement, it's just so lacking of grammar and clarity and all that's good about what we were taught in the 2nd grade with a blurb like this.

Sarah Palin knows nothing. She knows nothing about Common and his music. She knows nothing about what he stands for. She knows nothing about socially conscience art. She knows nothing about what his lyrics mean. She knows nothing.

Yah, they really should have invited someone that treats the President with respect. Like Ted Nugent. He's said loads of nice things about President Obama.
