Palin blasts White House's rapper invite

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined the anti-Common refrain Wednesday night, questioning the White House's judgment for inviting the rapper to participate in a poetry event.

"You know, the judgment, it's just so lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America with an invite like this," Palin said on Fox News Channel. "It's just so easy to assume that they're just inviting someone like me or somebody to ask, 'Come on, Barack Obama, who are you palling around with now?"

Common's presence at the event, which is part of Michelle Obama's White House Music Series, drew flack from media figures who pointed to lyrics from his songs, some of which use violent language against former President George W. Bush and police officers.

"This rapper, we thought that we were to be united under the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, in tamping down racism and inciting violence and cop killing, certainly, and killing a former president," Palin said. "All those things that this rapper has glorified and really is known for, it just certainly reflects a lack of judgment on the White House's part."

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney defended the decision, although he said the president "opposes those kind of lyrics."

"It's ironic to pick out those particular lyrics and – about this particular artist, when in fact, he's known as a socially conscious hip-hop artist or rapper who has done a lot of good things," Carney said.

Palin also took the opportunity to address her White House intentions, saying it is still too early to throw her hat in the ring. But she is "happy" former House Speaker Newt Gingrich decided to announce and is looking forward to more candidates jumping in to the race.

"The more competition the better," Palin said. "I'm not disappointed in the field thus far. I look forward to more jumping in there … competition breeds success. Competition is good for all of us in business, in politics. The more the merrier in a primary."

If there's a non-issue that exists somewhere in the vicinity of the president, you can count on Palin or Trump to latch onto it.

Each and every time granny grizzly opens her mouth she puts this country in a very dumbed down ignorant light. This uneducated moron is a disgrace to herself, her dysfunctional family, and of course to this country. Granny grizzly has no intellect and has never made through on any commitment she has ever made, attended five different colleges before she was able to graduate, bailed out two years early on a four year commitment as governor of alaska. Granny grizzly needs to tend to her dysfunctional family and quit making a fool out of herself, her family and this country, enough said!

This from the woman whose grandson will be on a reality show? Somehow I question her ability to discern poetry or class.

Queen Sarah has no right to question anyone's judgement. Why, as an American, I quesstion the fact why this woman is even relevant anymore. Because she isn't.

"You know, the judgment, it's just so lacking of class and decency....."

Hysterical irony!!! $arah Palin, criticizing something for a lack of class?!? Is she that stupid, or does she think we(or, her followers) are? The woman defines lack of class.

More comedy from Palin! Enjoy her buffoonery while it lasts, she'll be fading back into irrelevancy any time now.

Well, it takes "lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America" to KNOW "lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America'. Did dim bulb barbie even see the footage, or read the poem that Common wrote? Of all of his songs, only one has lyrics that could be considered indecent. All of his other material addresses social issues that tend to offend the delicate sensibilities of the dim bulbs of the world.

I agree with her on this one. Obama shouldn't have invited him if this guy has these lyrics against Pres. Bush in them. We just killed a major terrorist so Obama invites hate and vile to the White House. Its not a classy move on his part.

Any quote from this idiot should be taken with a grain of salt. Of course noone is playing the entire songs and most of the posters here and the pundits have never heard of Common before yesterday.

Palin is a liar and hopefully this will backfire on her. Yes, Common raps about violence, but if you listen to his lyrics you'll see he is discouraging violence, not "glorifying" it.

First, this woman can't form a single coherant sentence if her life depended upon it!
Second, with all the big issues facing this country and the world, this is what's gotten her knickers in a bunch?

Blasting Common over his Def Poetry verse and disregarding his entire body of work is a typical thing that really disturbs me about the GOP.

Common is one of the most socially conscience, positive, uplifting, inspiring, and NON-violent artists in the hip-hop industry.

If you actually listen to the poem, Common is expressing his anger towards the GW administration for putting us into wars that we didn't belong in. And he wasn't glorifying guns. He said "I hold up a piece sign but still carry a gun" because while he's a peaceful man as everyone knows, he's saying he still feels the needs to protect himself.

I don't see why this is a bad thing..I would welcome someone into the White House who used his freedom of speech to express his feelings. Why? because its a positive way to let off steam. Its not like Common went to the GOP convention and started firing. Barack Obama couldn't align himself with a better artist in the hip-hop community except for Lupe Fiasco or Nas.

The GOP is starting to make me wonder if they really believe the BS that comes out of their mouths or if their training to twist, manipulate, and spin the the truth so well that they can't help it anymore. The only other explanation is because they know they can manipulate their audience to get votes and support. Its completely disgusting.

The sad thing is that they are our American brothers and sisters yet they refuse to unite with us. They just want the power out of the hands that hold it just for the sake of having it themselves. Its sad.

"Palin also took the opportunity to address her White House intentions, saying it is still too early to throw her hat in the ring."

She has no intention of running. It's too much work, and doesn't pay well enough. She's keeping up this ruse as long as she can, simply to keep her name in the headlines. She's an celebrity-addicted, attention-starved, media and money wh0re.

She would find fault if the President had the Dahli Lama to the White House. Is he any less of an American because she doesn't like his lyrics? While she is worried about the second amendment, I'm worried abput the first amendment, which isand has been under more and greater attacks by "conservatives" going back much, much further.

This woman is the worst of America – the Bible thumping, no brained, know nothing trying to push her agenda on others yet not living a life that reflects that. She is a phony. She said great things about Kid Rock who has a long rap sheet and whose lyrics are far worse, she touted Ted Nugent who has said disgusting things about the President and Hilliary Clinton yet she has a problem with this. This is just made up anger to get attention – her star has faded – no one is paying any attention – she is just what she called Obama – a celebrity – and a B lister to boot.

How moral of her. Passing judgment and we could say her daughter was permiscuous but we all know that would not be fair.....but is she really fair. She needs to get a "REAL" job and spend some time with her son. No disrespect, but I have a special needs child and try to spend as much time and give as much love while I work.
