Ron Paul: 'I see and feel the enthusiasm'

Washington (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul said he is in a better position now than he was the last time he ran for president, in 2008.

"Before, I was trying to get people's attention about the seriousness of our economic crisis and the financial bubble and the housing bubble. But that became very clear, you know, in – in 2008," Paul said Friday on CNN's "The Situation Room." "People are starting to realize that was the case."

Paul said the country has come to realize what he predicted during his last bid for the White House, about foreign policy, drug policy and economic policy.

"I see and feel the enthusiasm, the numbers of people who are interested," Paul said. "It has been an explosion of interest."

The eleven-term Texas congressman, who is 75, said his age is "irrelevant as far as I am concerned."

"What really counts is what I deal with are young ideas," Paul said. "The ideas of liberty are very, very young when you look at history."

- Watch Paul on CNN's "The Situation Room" Friday from 5 p.m. ET to 7 p.m. ET and on CNN's "John King, USA" at 7 p.m. ET.

Ron Paul believes in a dog-eat-dog, isolationist world. He named his son after Ayn Rand, one of the most self-centered and egocentric people who had nothing but contempt for her fellow human beings and thought compassion and altruism were not only worthless, but evil. (Rand was also an atheist into free love, you do realize that, don't you, all you Atlas Shrugged groupies?)

These are the values that Ron Paul holds – and frankly, the world needs less of his type of influence, not more.

I disagree with much of what he stands for. But he is one conservative that I have respect for.

I'm sure Ron Paul is a nice guy. But go away! You're a dinasour. White-haired old guys are played out for presidency! Go rest your nerves and don't worry about trying to run the United States of America. By the way, do you even know what a blackberry is?

Is there no end to the stupidity of the GOP party !!!!! I have just read on the CNN that John Paul " is annoyed by the Bin Layden raid" What on earth could that mean ??? Is he annoyed that he did not have the intelligence to plan it ?

Thlis is a man who thinks that he could be the President of the USA – in his dreams !!!!

By the way I think that his age is very, very relevant. John Paul, go buy a rocking chair and just sit on your deck – that is actually where you belong.

I heard it said that Democrats promise everything even though they know they can't........this is no different. Paul has great ideas, but he won't be able to get any of it done. He won't be able to break up the fed reserve, he won't be able to legalize anything, he won't be able to slash defense, because all these things are the machine that keeps it all going, we the people do not have enough influence to do that with out "grassroots" backing like the new group of mad hatters yelling across the country at boogey men the hijackers tell them too. If Obama with all his words and energy wasn't with the super majority, then how the hell does anyone think that Paul can? The same engineers of the machine, are the very ones who pay the big bucks and donations........New Rule, don't beleive anyone who tells you what you want to hear and who also need your funds.......it's like asking a fat kid to hold your cupcake for just a second while you go get some punch.

Belladonia, you obviously have no idea who this guy is. While I consider his familiarity with "Blackberrys" to be irrelevant, you ought to know that he is VERY internet savvy. He runs and updates his own facebook page, as well as his myspace page where uploads audio clips of him discussing current issues and events.

If "white hair" and "old" ultimately decide who you vote for, people like you shouldn't be allowed to vote and are the reason this country is a complete mess. Research things before you post stupid comments. I'm not saying you have to agree with him, but know a little about somebody before you bash them.

  13. Republican Robber Baron

Paul is a right-wing extremist on domestic issues. However his Libertarian views are in 100% solidarity with Liberals on Civil LIberties and especially foreign policy. Paul is the only Republican with the guts to call for big cuts to the out of control defense budget which has grown almost 2x since Bush took office.

I hope he wins to shake things up for the otherwise boring and corrupt business-as-usual GOP agenda.

As usual, when Ron Paul hits the media all of the symptoms of the illness that is our country show themselves, and while I could expose each 1 individually, it would take too much time

as i read these comments i see the complainers...the regurgitators...the pretenders...the blind...the ring-in-the-nose followers......the mindless attackers...SOme attack because they don't know any better and are just towing their party line, some attack because it's their job to and they use every trick know to man to get you to vote for ANYBODY other than Ron Paul.......But thankfully i see some people who agree–AND–disagree with Ron Paul in the healthy way our country was designed to agree and disagree politically

Folks...think of Washington as a poker game of criminals called The Establishment...The Establishment may cheat each other–BUT–The moment someone (Ron Paul) comes in to disrupt their poker game, all guns from The Establishment turn on him to protect their game

WWII bombers pilots had a method of knowing when to drop their bombs if their navigation wasn't working, they said–"You know you're over the target when you start getting flack"....And who gets more 'Flack' from both sides than Ron Paul ?...And thats because he's flying overhead ready to drop bombs on their criminal empire, he's just waiting for the American people to give the order

give that order and Vote Ron Paul 2012

Well vote for him if you want to lose your medicare, and social security. And probably eventually what you will find on the chopping block are veterans benefits as welll as Veterans Disability payments and other rights of Veterans. The you will see that the poor will be even worse off than most are already....although I do admit that the welfare system could stand an overhaul since there is not much of incentive for those people to find self-fulfillinf work. Their benefits are quite substanbtial the more children they have. If I offend anyone with that statement then I am sorry.
But Ron Paul as president would be one of the owrst things to happen to this country. I would rather see Welfare recipients living well like they already are than to see what would happen to them under a Ron Paul Presidency. And the rest of us would have nothing to look forward to either.

Ron Paul is a real christian that believes in the law of the land (unlike Huck who simply exploits his faith for votes). If he does not win the nomination I will be very upset. But when everything goes down as he predicts (which is what happen in 2008) I will laugh at the people that voted for another idiot or liar to lead the country.

I really hope Paul is wrong about the dollar crisis but it is hard to dismiss since we are $14 trill and counting in debt. Plus all of his economic predictions have came true in the past. That's why the networks keep talking to him...

Paul's rambling incoherent comments on CNN were scary. It was a montage of 'problems' and 'issues' for which he had no solution except "I wouldn't do that". No solution to the problem, just "I wouldn't do that".

Wow. What part od Bin Laden killing innocents and planning on killing more doesn't he get?

    What else doesn't he understand?

so Ron Paul feels that everyone should have a CHOICE in what they can do and not let laws govern everything? Does that mean he also believes that a woman should have a choice as well in the pro-life/pro-choice battle? CHOICE is NOT a word in certain cases that the GOP likes to use so he best make it clear what he means about that.
