(CNN) - President Barack Obama will visit the Central Intelligence Agency's headquarters in Langley, Virginia, Friday to thank CIA operatives for the "work they do every day to keep America safe and specifically for their excellent work in tracking down Osama bin Laden," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday.
Obama's decision to visit the CIA came shortly after the successful raid on bin Laden's Pakistani compound, Carney said.
CIA Director Leon Panetta oversaw the May 2 raid, which was conducted by Navy SEALs and ended in the death of bin Laden.
Saif al-Adel, a former Egyptian special forces officer, has been chosen as bin Laden's successor to lead al Qaeda, according to CNN contributor Peter Bergen.
The CIA got a tongue lashing from the President last time he was there speaking on torture. This goes to show that under this President's leadership, there are other ways to fight this war against Al-Qaeda. I'm sure the President is gonna give them a good "that a boy" on Friday.
The president is personally going there to see why my resume keep getting thrown in the shredder after 15 attempts to land a spy job in the Cayman Islands for life. That's a need to know trip for the #1 Man. Stay tune as I wait for my new appointment as my bags are packed at the front door.
I'm sure the right-wing-nutts will try to trash Obama for going to the CIA (or going anywhere his job takes him). I mean it's not like Obama did in two years what the Repub President never did in seven, after we were attacked on that same Presidents "watch", after he was warned by his own staff and the previous Democratic President.
Not like any of that happened?
