(CNN) – The Secret Service is apologizing Wednesday after an employee's personal dislike for Fox News landed in an official tweet.
The message, posted Wednesday on the @SecretService Twitter account read, "Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can't. Deal. With. The. Blathering."
According to the agency, the tweet was "immediately removed" and an "internal follow-up" is underway.
"An employee with access to the Secret Service's Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet," read a statement from the U.S. Secret Service. "We apologize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account. Policies and practices which would have prevented this were not followed and will be reinforced for all account users."
The Secret Service newly joined Twitter with its first official tweet from @SecretService on May 9, 2011.
I see that the Obama administration dumbed down all Public Service sectors, no exception for even the Secret Service.
A truthful person. Good for you. Faux Suuxs the big one
Fox News is the only network to report that of the 204 new Obamacare waivers in April, thirty-eight of them went to Nancy Pelosi's district. Fox is only doing what they are supposed to do. Report the news. Every network should strive to report the news. Not covering up for Pres. Obama.
Why is the secret service tweeting?
While I agree with the tweet that all Fox News provides is constant blathering to its mindless masses, I definitely agree with the poster being reprimanded. The SS is supposed to be non-partisan in its function and this agent's personal opinions had no place on the agency account. That being said, I think it speaks volumes about the kind of rhetoric Fox News spews when the Secret Service's responsibilities include monitoring the network.
All of the news places lie and stretch the truth. All of them. Fox News, MSNBC, even this site does. He shouldnt have been on Twitter at work, but for those of yall who blindly follow CNN and always critizice Fox because you have been told too, yall are the ones that are crazy.
I, too, am happy the SS monitors FakeFox. They stir up outrage over propaganda. They better monitor FakeFox!
Why should they apologize? It's not like FOX is real news nor was the Secret Service lying :).
To the Secret Service person who cannot deal with the blather on Fox:understood. But vigilance is a price of freedom.
Fair and Balance blathering
One can tweet while watching TV. I'm not sure any severe punishment is necessary.
And I suppose this agent thinks MSNBC, owned by General Electric and a huge donor to Obama does not blather. If he is really doing his job he would understand just by looking at the records of quotes, that Palin has been right about the stimulus that has now been proven by economists to havr lost public sector jobs, the almost 1000 healthcare opt-outs to Obama supporting businesses because of the cost. Yes, CNN, with your blathering about the lies of how wonderful Obama is, maybe you could tell the truth and educate the agent. But, you won't tell the truth since Obama is your hand-picked President, will you?
That tweet was actually very polite. There is a lot worse that can be said about the quality of Fox News.
Are they still calling faux news news,? enquirer minds want to know.
Why an apology to FOX LOSERS? It is what it is, Can't. Deal. With. The. Blathering."
Secret Service needs to apologize to me for giving Fox an apology.
The Secret Service should be apologizing to the employee for making him/her monitor Fox. Listening to Fox's spins, misintrepretations, and outright lies is such extreme punishment that no Secret Service employee should be required to suffer through it.
I certainly can deal with the "blathering." This is the only news network that is attempting to keep the NObama administration as honest as they possibly can. And it does it in a fair and balanced way. Can other communication mediums lay claim to that FACT?
By the way, this idiotic employee should get his butt canned. Union or no union, period.
Let him join the unemployment lines and see how it really feels.
If the same idiocy happened with CNN, even President NObama would be after this moron's butt.
Idiotic morons such as this one have no place working and being paid by funds belonging to the American taxpayers.
Again, let him join the unemployment lines so he can experience for himself what millions of Americans are experiencing.
Of course, that is not going to happen. Once you are part of the federal bureaucracy, you are set for life, and of course, with the best benefits in the world.
Fox News was on at an airport the other morning while I waited for my flight. When I finally boarded the plane, I could have sworn the same anchors I was just watching on TV were now serving me coffee.
Lots of comments from the liberal/progressive/socialists that don't like hearing the truth from FOX. They like MSNBC BS more.
Who.Can.Stand.The.Blathering.At.FOX?
Fakes News should be monitored 24/7 because various people on that sorry excuse for a network often do seek to incite violence.
Why would they scramble to fix this? Just an employee speaking the truth.
Apologize? Give that guy a medal!
I love how the mainpage link title for this story is "Secret Service Slams Fox", but the story is really just one employee expressing their opinion while likely violating their employee rules.
CNN isn't biased??
