Palin movie coming to theaters this summer

Washington (CNN) - A secretly-produced, $1 million feature film about Sarah Palin will debut next month in Iowa, a reminder that the former Alaska governor remains a very real factor in the Republican presidential nominating contest despite dismissals of her potential candidacy by GOP insiders.

The two-hour movie - the existence of which was first reported late Tuesday by RealClearPolitics and confirmed by CNN - is the work of conservative filmmaker Stephen Bannon.

Bannon was first approached by Palin and her staff after last November's midterm elections and asked to produce a series of videos that would highlight the former governor's record in Alaska, an attempt to recover her "maverick" brand and repair the political fallout from her decision to quit the governorship in 2009.

The filmmaker took the idea a step further. With editorial control and his own financing, Bannon produced a feature-length film taking a favorable look at Palin's rise to power in Alaska, her reform efforts as governor and her blockbuster entrance onto the national political stage as John McCain's running mate in 2008.

Quietly and with the help of Palin and her team, Bannon was granted access to key Palin allies in Alaska and a treasure trove of rarely seen footage, including images dating back to Palin's time on the Wasilla City Council, her first political office.

Palin and her husband Todd were given a private screening of the film last week in Arizona, CNN confirmed. The movie's title: "The Undefeated."

Palin has been relatively quiet as of late aside from a handful of Fox News appearances, but word of the film is sure to be a wake-up call to Republican operatives in Washington and in key early primary states who have largely brushed aside the possibility of a Palin presidential bid.

She is, her supporters argue, the only potential candidate with the kind of political muscle needed to skip some of the early nominating hurdles like network debates or the closely-watched Ames Straw Poll, and still join the presidential primary race in September or October with a credible and devoted grassroots following.

A Palin adviser re-affirmed to CNN Tuesday that she is still "seriously considering" a White House bid.

With the film's rollout certain to grab media attention, Republican candidates already in the race are likely to face questions about Palin as they ramp up their campaigns this summer.

Bannon told RealClearPolitics he plans to premier the film in late June in the first-in-the-nation caucus state of Iowa, followed by a promotional swing through the other pivotal states of New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

Will there be flying monkeys in it and will Palin melt when splashed with a bucket of water? We can only hope.

This movie will give us all a chance to see how much work she's had done to her face, etc., in her efforts to appear more "real."

We still remember the images from the web site of the church she attended (they took it down within hours of her being announced as the VP choice) which showed Palin taking orders from the pastor to go out and perform the will of God. He had spelled out specific goals to meet, which amounted to social engineering.

It is a shame that we in America have settled for a media blizts of our prospective canidates for the highest office in America. Ms. Palin is showing that all she has is glizts and no substance. I will believe Ms. Palin when I see her on every states presidential canidants discussions and debates whether live or on TV. She will no doubt skip the ones she can't compete in and choose only those that make her shine........... Either way I am hoping that the American voter can see past all the hype and find the true Palin, one that doesn't work so hard to hide what she is lacking in true statesmanship. Visiting other countries to show she has foriegn grit only show how really foolish she is. Getting on Twitter with one liners only shows she can not compete in more than 15 minutes of conversation. And to only comment after the fact on any one issue shows she really does not have an honorable point of view of which she would stand stead fast for...... Please Ms. Palin....... spare the majority of Americans the ridicule of your running for president........ you are not qualitfied.

Will this movie reveal why she traveled when she was 9 months pregnant with her special needs child? It's unkind of me to say, but I just can't help wondering if she didn't intentionally endanger his life in an effort to eliminate him without the stigma of having to get an abortion ...

Wow! This could be the new Wizard of Oz. She could be the scarecrow. "I could while away the hours, confering with the flowers, consulting with the rain. And my head I'd be scratching, while my thought were busy hatching, if I only had a brain."

I think it's funny that the original 1969 movie "The Undefeated" starring John Wayne and Rock Hudson, focused on the inability of a post Civil War southern town that refused to accept that the war was won by the Union. They traveled across Texas, heading for Mexico to preserve their slave ownership lifestyle. It's amazing that Palin did not consider the ramifications of choosing that title...I not surprised...Palin never considers anything that deeply. I also believe she associated with the secessionist movement in Alaska (her husband certainly was).Todd Palin had registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party in 1995

Apparently this woman's narcissism knows no bounds.

GSMITH – that was a great post, but where's the punchline? Your set-up was beautiful! I hope you post the punchline shortly.

We "refudiate" this comedy. Trying to scrape some more money together by the old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted". Has to be really tough to be a Silly Sarah supporter these days.
NY 26 was just a precursor of things to come. GOP/Tea Pee are in major trouble, sinking fast and Palin is just another anchor dragging it to the bottom.

I have been a lifelong Democrat and the comments above do not take into consideration that a politican grows in stature based upon his/her experience on the campaign trail. Sarah has been campaigning, directly and indirectly, since 2008. To count her out would be a mistake. She has the conviction, perserverance and tanacity to reak havoc on the Republican contenders and I will make a prediction today: If she enters the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, she will win the nomination and with a smart choice of a Vice President, she could very well defeat Obama in 2012. Don't be surprised to see two women on the Republican Party ticket in 2012. That would be a formidable challenge for the Democrats.

  15. The Extreme Makeover of Winky Palin

$arah Palin is a fraud that was almost successfully perpetrated on the citizens of the United States.

She is a clear & present danger to civility, reason, logic, competence, fair play, consensus building and integrity in American political circles.

Most of the frantic members of the RNC know this and fear Palin had tainted the GOP water so badly that they can`t win with anyone in 2012.

This is why we see such a round robin effort to draft a new face to oppose President Obama. As much as the Obama-haters malign our chief executive, party leaders hunger for their own version of the eurudite, unflappable and charasmatic NoDrama Obama.

No movie in the world is going to transform $arah Palin into that!

Oh, yeah. As long as she remains on the Fox payroll, she cannot and will not announce a candidacy. She cannot be a candidate and be paid by a media organization at the same time. She must be let go from Fox followed by a few months cooling off period. In fact, she is well past the point of no return on that front. Furthermore, if they let her go today, that does not mean she is preparing herself for a candidacy. All it would mean is that they let her go, just like Beck.

Finally! We can wait outside theaters and actually see what a palin supporter looks like! My guess is they're indistinguishable from walmart customers.

GSMITH and Bill Decoty should have guest appearances in this comedy, they are some funny individuals. One plays the "jealous" card, and the other trots out the "Palin will win" line - comic geniuses.

"Bannon was first approached by Palin and her staff and asked to produce a series of videos ....."

Anytime you have to ask someone to make a video about you should be your first clue that you are a legend in your own mind, and an idiot in others' minds. And what "political muscle" is this Palin is supposed to have that she can skip early network debates by declaring late? She needs to be at every debate, Republican and Democratic, so she can learn something.

Folks, wake up! $arah Palin will NOT run for POTUS in 2012. She'll keep the undecided victim position as long as she can just to stay in the limelight.

What is next for this egomaniac? Will she start a cult of Mama Grizzlies, living off the land in Alaska while wearing too much make-up and the latest in fashion eyewear and worshipping the incredible record of public service of Queen Sarah?

She sure is full of herself.

I wonder if the film also points out that she quit half-way through her term as governor?

This will probably do about as well at the box office as the Ayn Rand flop. Half-term, half-brain Gov. $arah Palin is interested in just one thing: MONEY.

She can not bring in any more clowns to the circus and she wont talk to the people she would need to sway to be considered serious. She did not have enough fire in her belly to finish her gov. job and yet we are suppose to believe she could handle any of the problems which our President has had to deal with. She thinks she is special but this time her own will eat her before the dems have a chance.THIS WILL BE BETTER THAN ANY COMEDY SHE COULD EVER STAR[ I JUST THREW UP IN MY MOUTH] IN.
