Obama leads country in marking Memorial Day

ARLINGTON, Virginia (CNN) - President Barack Obama led the nation's Memorial Day observances Monday, laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknowns and declaring that Americans owe "a debt to our fallen heroes that we can never fully repay."

"The blessings we enjoy as Americans came at a dear cost," Obama told a crowd at the cemetery's Memorial Amphitheater. "For those of you who mourn the loss of a loved one today, my heart goes out to you."

  1. The POTUS is Obama

I will cast my vote for Obama. He's not only trying to help our country regain notority. There's no way I will support the GOP agenda. For all those people who are struggling to find a job and just survive? Keep your faith and go to the polls and vote for Obama. Help the rest of America's poor and middle class folk relinguish the GOP Agenda. GOP has not done anything to help American's get jobs, aid for the tornado victims of Joplin.

A vote for any republican goes against the very kindness of Jesus in his time on this earth.

HE would never have taken from the poor to give to corporations and wall street (which is what the republicans are doing).

Just give me the facts. In a Nation we all enjoy the spoils of War. However, it is only fair that the Nation that sends Men and Women to War have a system in place to care for the Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine, Widow and Orphan. Since Obama has been President he has increased spending and eased regulations to allow for just and equitable Compensation, Pension and V.A. Healthcare for Vets than ANY sitting President. No the V.A. is not perfect. But as a Vet that uses it I can tell you it is BETTER since Obama. The GOP fuels the War Machine then has the audacity to choke off VA benefits. Obama understands and appreciates the TROOPS and Veterans who bring home the spoils of War regardless if you agree with War or not. So with that being said and having a clear understanding of the end game there is nothing anyone should say bad about a man that TRULY SUPPORTS THE TROOPS and VETERANS VIA ACTIONS AND NOT JUST ATYPICAL GOP RHETORIC!

Totally amazed at the hate spewed by some of the posters (GI Joe, Ck, potus is obama) This is Memorial day; please remember the sacrifices our men and women in the Armed Forces have made. God Bless them.

I for one am proud not only of my country but the POTUS as well. Sure there are some things he's done I don't agree with (like the extension of the Bush tax cuts) but mostly I think he has done a decent job and that was even before bin Laden. Yet many on the right seem to slam most everything he has done or tried to do. I'm sure the Obama-haters that post here on a regular basis will come and spin this into negative as well.

Obama shows up once a year for his PHOTO OP ... while the rest of the year, he disrespects our military, and sends billions of dollars to our enemies, so they can buy more weapons, to kill more of our soldiers.
