Washington (CNN) - Sarah Palin remained coy about her presidential intentions during a visit Monday to the National Archives in Washington, D.C. as part of her "One Nation" bus tour.
The former Alaska governor said she is "still kind of contemplating a run," but was optimistic about Republicans' chances of winning back the White House in 2012.
Her bus tour started Sunday with a stop at the "Rolling Thunder" rally on the National Mall. The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee later visited the Lincoln Memorial and the World War Two Memorial, according to her website. Over the next few days she is scheduled to make stops at historic sites in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
But she pushed back on the idea that the bus is a sign she's running for president.
"This isn't a campaign bus," Palin said. "This is a bus to be able to express to America how much we appreciate our foundation and to invite more people to be interested in all that is good about America and to remind ourselves we don't need to fundamentally transform America, we need to restore what's good about America."
Along with her husband Todd and daughters Bristol and Piper, Palin is expected to head to the Civil War battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Monday, continuing to spread her message on Memorial Day.
"The mission that we're on is to highlight America's foundation and that's a nice thing that we're getting to do, bring the family along for the ride but making sure the people are aware of where America came from," Palin said.
- CNN's Greg Clary contributed to this report.
It would be great to see Sarah Palin put together a run for 2012 but for now, she is absolutely correct. The message right now is important to get in front of people. We can do better than the path Obama and the Democrats have put us on. We can be responsible with our resources and we can manage what we have to be the great country again for the benefit of the population rather than the government. The federal government works best when it is doing for the people and not just the politicians. Raising taxes is not for the benefit of the people. Out of control spending is not for the benefit of the people. Unemployment lingering at 9% of the working population is not for the benefit of the people. Being a strong, efficient, competitive economic powerhouse is for the benefit of the people, every American now and in the future. We all benefit much more from a large economy than we do from a large government.
Palin is not going to run: she knows better. However she is running a business, and it's going well.
Bully for her, and for anybody who devises a way to make money in this economy!
Let's do the math. 73% of republicans favor her. Assuming republicans are half the vote, that gives her 36.5% of the vote total for president. I would hope Democrats and Independents ALL see through this scam. She has to be interview by some station other than fox eventually.
Shame on Rolling Thunder who represents our Fallen, POW's, and MIA's to allow Palin to ride waving to those who may have come to Washington to Honor their loved ones. I am totally convinced that Palin is out of touch with reality. As for Rolling Thunder... this was a huge let down for me to see you allow this circus to happen.
Mum? This woman is never mum! Just throw her under a Harley or toss her under her bus!
Sounds like she is "dithering", and can't make a simple decision. It is so transparent that this bus tour is just a ploy to 'one-up' Michelle Bachman for media coverage, and suck up more money from her foolish followers. Our country is humiliated every time this woman appears in any kind of media. What kind of coward hides behind Facebook and Tweets? She makes decent, intelligent women ashamed.
What a joke....the only reason anyone still knows about her is because people like the media keep bringing her up.
I said it before and I'll say it again....she doesn't have a snowballs chance of winning any nomination let alone any primary. She consider a prehistoric wreck with a brain the size of a walnut.
I used to respect you Senator McCain. I will never forgive you, however, for the plague you have unleased on the United States. Sarah Palin makes ignorance a virtue and disparages education as elitism. Is this seriously what you want for the United States.

But Obama lost the Independents long ago when his promises and big expensive programs handed to him on a silver platter turned into $4 trillion worth of new American debt, continued 9% unemployment and a pile of excuses like we have never seen from an American President before. November 2010 was your first clue. November 2012 will be convincing.
Thank God for Sarah. All this time I thought I learned about America in U.S. History classes in school. Now, the woman who answers questions by reading the answer she had written on the palm of her hand is going to show me what America is all about? No thank you.
@ Four and the Door. To put things in perspective, Democrats have historically stayed away from mid-term elections. Hence the bad showing for Democrats in 2010. 2012 will be different. The Democrats and Independants will still have the Republican budget plan and Medicare plan ringing in their ears. The Republicans had better come up with someone with Super Star qualities (like Obama had in 2008) if they want a modicum of a chance top win the White House. So far, I see no Super Stras in the Republican Party
She would never give up the money she is making now...
Who and why would anyone give money to this MORON
Elphaba

I think Americans have had their fill of Hollywood in Washington. They will elect someone who is capable of taking control of the federal government and providing much needed leadership back to economic stability and a shot at a decent living on Main Street and not just Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Actually, this is a "what came first, the chicken or the egg" moment. Donald Trump has been in the public eye a lot longer than Sarah Palin, yet she started milking the Tea Partry faithful of their money with her "I'm thinking about it" scam two years before Trump did. On the other hand, Trump did this same scam, to a much lower, almost unnoticable degree two and six years ago. So who came first, The Momma Grisley or The Donald?
Four and The Door
And you really think Palin is that person? Maybe you should run for Vice President. LOL
HA HA HA HA HA HA .. funniest thing I have ever heard. What a good chuckle.
Palin is a dithering coward and will not run for President. The American electorate will show the Republicans the door in 2012.
Yes, the Rolling Thunder folks allowed their event to be turned into a media Circus by Sarah Palin and they all got taken for a ride. It's a shame.
@ Four and the Door.

I disagree. I may be cynical, but I think most voters need a super star to shake them out of voter apathy. How many voters walk into the voting booth clutching their local newspaper's "recommendations" so they'll know who to vote for? More than you would think.
I still say that to be technical about it she has less right to be president then Obama did with the controversy over natrual born which was never truely defined in the constituion but later defined in a court ruling. However in Article 2 of the constitution it continues to refer to the president as "He" So if little miss fallow the constitution by the word is willing to ignore that on a whim while fighting over Obama who was born to an American mother thils whole time, makes me worry what else she'll be so willing to overlook
I think Americans have had their fill of Hollywood Republicans. The Palin family being the leading example. Without question, the voters will decide to re-elect Pres. O
Republicans want to do away with the EPA and hand entitlement programs over to private insurance and will consume more oil and more war. Really the last thing we need is i brainless half wit like her in office. America needs to progress we are falling behind Europe and Republicans want to keep us in the stone age.
She's got a "fire" in her belly
AND "air"in her head
A dangerous combination
