Democrats insist 'Weinergate' is no scandal

(CNN) - Is Democratic U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner the innocent victim of a prank?

Or did the New York congressman post a barely clothed picture of himself on his Twitter feed over the Memorial Day weekend?

There are the two opposing camps that seem to be lining up on either side of the "Weinergate" affair, as the political pundits have dubbed it.

    A police investigation has been rumored to have begun after initial facts show the photo was not created on any camera or computer owned by Weiner or his immediate employees. All files transferred across the internet contain information that describes the file. This information is known as metadata, which data about data. The metadata associated with image has been examined by the web site. Some inconsistencies and discrepancies have been found, as noted above.
