BREAKING: Edwards indictment expected

(CNN) - Former senator and 2008 presidential candidate John Edwards is expected to be indicted on Friday barring any last minute developments, a source with knowledge of the investigation tells CNN. There have been plea discussions ongoing between Edwards' defense lawyers and federal prosecutors, but no agreement has been reached.

A grand jury has been investigating that money given to support Edwards' mistress Rielle Hunter by benefactors of Edwards should have been considered campaign donations - a contention Edwards' team has disputed.

The only way we are going to stop the rancor in this country, in American politics and in the political baskstabbing ways that permeate our corporations is for people of HONOR to call a spade a spade.

In this case, if there are any honorable republicans, they need to say that what John Edwards did is NOT ILLEGAL. At it's heart, friends of his paid THEIR OWN MONEY to protect his secret about Rialle Hunter. This is America. Those people can do whatever they want with their money. They are not running. They money wasn't donated to his campaign therefore it can't be a violation of campaign laws.

I encourage that the GOP STOP the win at all costs approach. Democrats are not the punks / wimps they are made out to be. Some of them will get even if the GOP doesn't stop the cycle. The reason Mitch Daniels isn't running is that he doesn't want to have to put up with the toxic environment that the Republican RightWing, TeaParty zealots have created. It is now hurting the party's ability to field more reasonable candidates.

I can only assume that the Democratically run Justice Department is pressing this case to create cover for themselves to go after GOPTP'ers that have violated more serious laws. After indicting Edwards, who could complain if they indicted someone like Dick Cheney?

It would certainly seem that the Justice Department feels that they have enough evidence that the hundreds of thousands of dollars he received, which was also used to help Edwards during his bid for the Democratic White House nomination, should have been reported as campaign contributions. If true, this is a felony.

To make this a story about the GOP or Tea Party is nothing more than delusional liberal ramblings.
