Source: Weiner told New York colleague he doesn't plan to resign, citing polling and wife

Washington (CNN) - Rep. Anthony Weiner told a House Democratic colleague from New York Wednesday afternoon that he does not plan to resign. A Democratic source familiar with this conversation said Weiner told his colleague that his wife Huma Abedin wants him to stay in Congress, and cited polling data showing a majority of New York City voters want him to remain in office. The source described Weiner as "dug in."

The source spoke on the condition that the name of the Democratic New York lawmaker not be made public because it was a private conversation with Weiner.

Of course he won't resign, the man has no integrity. There was a time when integrity had value but it's clear that the Democrats by not forcing this clown out are endorsing this type of behavior. This just further damages the entire political system on both sides of the aisle. The president along with Reid and Pelosi need to do the right thing.

The national Rethugs will get over this, and focus or more than likely CREATE the next Great Democratic Faux Pas. It is what they are really, really, really good at: misinforming, misdirecting, miscreating.
So you go ahead and hang in ther Weiner. Yor first concern should be rectifying your crap with your pregnant wife; secondly you're going tohave to apologize clearly, seriously, and one last time to everyone, then bust your hump for your district.
If you hide and go meek on Brooklynites/ New Yorkers that's not going to serve you well. Be humble, but stay out there and let them see you WORKING FOR YOUR PEOPLE.
We all screw up, and there are too many Rethugs still in office after having violated not only their families but their duty.
    Good luck.

It is not up to us to judge him, He will be judged by his maker, I think that he feels stupid enough and if Bill Clinton can survive I think Rep. Weiner will be just fine. His voting record speaks for him not his private life. I feel bad for him what he did was a shame, but Who am I to judge? He made a horrible creepy choice and now his responsibility is to his wife and up coming child. I think that he will seek forgiveness in his own time. I do not think he should resign..

Awesome. Every time a Democrat opens their mouth to lecture somebody else about anything, all that needs to be said is "why aren't you asking Weiner to resign? Do you think his behavior is becoming of a member of your caucus and of a member of Congress?" And as long as he's there, the Democrats are tacitly saying his presence among them is OK.

Thanks, Weiner! You're doing the GOP a service by not resigning.

"it's clear that the Democrats by not forcing this clown out are endorsing this type of behavior."

Please oh please tell us how that's done oh brilliant and well-informed complainer. What is it that Obama, Reid and Pelosi can do to "force" him to resign? Hmmmm? What actual power and right do they possess to do so? Fact is, many top Dems are calling for him to resign, but there is NOTHING they can do to "force" him to if he digs in and asserts himself. It's a voluntary decision and he doesn't have to make it no matter how many party leaders tell him to do it.

"he will be the poster child for them"

You mean like Vitter, Ensign, Craig, et al? Vitter is still sitting in his seat in congress...pampers and all.

Two things can and probably will happen here. First, the GOP will overreach and try to make this a generalized statement about the Dems...which will play poorly for the hypocrisy of it all. Second, the Dems will probably make the mistake of keeping it alive and in the spotlight by in-fighting with Weiner over whether he should resign...spurred in part by trying to make sure it's widely known that no, they don't approve of his behavior like the GOP is so tritely claiming...instead of letting it go, letting the ethics investigation take place and moving on with what's really important. Lastly, we can count on the media to fixate on it because there's nothing they love more than genitals, ratings and distractions from stories that should and would require actual thought, research and informative reporting.

Right...and I suppose they are tacitly saying that in between all the calls for his resignation? Newsflash: Vitter is still in Congress and I haven't heard a GOPer call for his resignation for...well...ever. Tend thine own house.

That's right not resign!!!! Those repugs that want to see you go need to clean up their own house before trying to clean up someone elses. Let the moral police go to hell!!!!!
The Dems have no backbone, always want to cave when the moral righteous repugs forget just how hypocritical they are. They bellieve that everyone should do as they say and not what they do!

It's too bad that nobody in a position of responsibility can make it clear to Weiner that the poor judgement he's been displaying in sexting women (and possibly underage girls) is the same judgement he's bringing to bear on ALL areas of his life. You don't just get to be an idiot in one set of decision making situations. Corrupted thinking is corrupted thinking and he's applying his penchant for absolute disaster in every category. Do yourself, your wife and your constituents all a favor and RESIGN and seek professional help.

ROFL at Republicans thinking anyone will care about this in a year. Please, look at Vitter. He banged hookers and just got reelected in Louisiana. Trust me, New Yorkers care far less about a sex scandal than Southerners.

I think that all these Americans on these high moral horses better watch out before they fall down hard. No mistake Weiner exercised bad judgment, but to imply that because his indiscretion was sexual nature it falls in the same category as many of the other atrocious acts we've seen performed by so-called leaders is insane!!! Who the he!! is Dana Bash to feel offended that he didn't bare his soul to her? Nobody!! Breitbart wanted to embarrass Weiner. Mission accomplished. Let's move on to real matters at hand. I, for one, want Weiner at the table...with his cell phone turned off. =)

Excellent... He can share poster space with tax cheat Charlie Rangel and influence peddler Maxine Walker. Democrats have now expanded there party brand from corruption and tax evasion, to perversion. WAY TO GO!!

EGADS, that picture is freaking me out!!! Looks like Weiner is psycho!!! I hope he doesn't go postal when everybody keeps asking him about his x-rated weiner pic floating around the internet.

If Democrats actually had the power to *force* Weiner out, then that same power would be available to Republicans.

IMO the so-called Democrappy leadership needs to shut the hell up.
Obama hasn't addressed this, nor should he.
They should follow suit. Pelosi said investigate, okay fine. But shut up until the results of same are made public.
Idiots are stoking embers trying to create a forest fire aiding and abetting the blood-thirsty RethugliKKKlans.
    Freaking incredible!

If I were Weiner everytime somebody suggests that he resign I'd respond with:
"I'm waiting for Vitter, and Sanford to clear customs".

Do we think ourselves so high and mighty that we cannot forgive someone?
If his wife will stand by him why can't we?
Why can't we FINALLY show the Rethugs that we too can take care of our own, and not turn our backs on him? They do it all the time.
Why should we care what the Rethugs think and want us to do? They are societal hypocritical parasites, continually pointing fingers at others, praying for their demise because it would be one less Democrat that they'd have to worry about.
    Stand strong. Stand UNITED.

I want him in Congress forever, if possible! I want him representing his party on every other cable news show, as he has done for the last several years. I want people to snicker every time they see a "D" behind a Congressman's name. Anthony Weiner is the gift that keeps on giving, the twit that keeps on tweeting!

Resign? Hell no! I want Anthony Weiner to be the face of the Democratic Party.
