John Edwards' mug shot released
(CNN)–Former U.S. Senator John Edwards, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and campaign law violations in early June. His mug shot was obtained by CNN following a Freedom of Information Act request.
The plea came after a federal grand jury indicted him on six counts, including conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws.
A grand jury has been investigating whether money given to support Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, by benefactors of Edwards should have been considered campaign donations, a contention Edwards' team has disputed.
A plea deal between the two-time presidential candidate and the U.S. Justice Department fell apart over the the Department's requirement that Edwards serve jail time. Wanting to have "minimal" impact on his two younger children, the former senator refused to agree.

But no worries, Obama will pardon him. Edwards endorsed the most likely Democratic nominee to win the WH at the time. He endorsed wisely and I'm sure it will pay off down the line.

Why did John Edwards have to pay his mistress hush money? They were lovers and in a sense were on the same side. Did she have to be paid to keep quiet? Couldn’t she have just kept quiet out of respect for John? Why did she turn against him? She got involved with him. Why would she go public about such a thing?

Nice how they let Edwards take a mugshot that doesn't actually look anything like a mugshot. No prisoner ID card to hold up, plus he dressed up and smiling. If we didn't know this was his mugshot, we would have thought it was taken from his capitol hill ID card. Preferential treatment, all the way.

It is just me, or does anyone else find it rather peculiar that he is smiling?
Why is he laughing? Don't get me wrong, I'm independent but I vote Democrat 99.9% of the time. I'd vote for this crook over any Repukelican any time unless the Repukelican can find a candidate that supports gay right, that is pro-choice and has no religious affiliation (the chances of which is near zero). I still think this guy is not right in the head and should be kicked to the curb.
