Washington (CNN) - All of us remember Election 2000 when we heard the mantra “Florida, Florida, Florida.” In the end, it all boiled down to Florida.
George W. Bush won the state by 537 votes. The count was disputed, but the U.S. Supreme Court ratified the election.

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) - There's a myth in Washington that - come its July 21 launch date - the consumer financial protection bureau created by the Wall Street reform law has to sit on its hands without a Senate-confirmed director.
But Treasury and those working to set up the bureau disagree. They're preparing the bureau to wield some pretty big powers even without a director, many of which have gotten short shrift at other agencies.
FULL STORY(CNN) – Indiana Republican Rep. Mike Pence jumpstarted his gubernatorial effort to succeed Gov. Mitch Daniels by hauling in more than $350,000 in campaign donations a little more than one month after he announced his bid.
According to filings submitted to the Indiana Election Division, 15 individuals and three businesses have given large contributions to the campaign. Pence's online accounting of funds does not include donations under $10,000.

FULL STORY(CNN) - It may be his home state, but a new poll indicates that Rick Santorum is not on top in Pennsylvania in the fight for the GOP presidential nomination.
And the Quinnipiac University survey of Keystone state voters released Wednesday also indicates that President Barack Obama's re-election numbers are on the rise in the crucial battleground state.
According to the poll, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the Republican field at 21 percent, followed by Santorum at 16 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at 11 percent. No one else was in double digits and 17 percent are undecided.

(CNN) - After formally announcing his candidacy for president next Tuesday at Liberty State Park in New Jersey (with the Statue of Liberty as his backdrop), Jon Huntsman will swing through some, but not all, of the states that vote near the top of the presidential primary and caucus calendar.
CNN has confirmed that the former Utah governor and former U.S. ambassador to China will head to New Hampshire next Tuesday, after declaring his candidacy, followed by stops in South Carolina Wednesday, Florida on Thursday, and Utah and Nevada on Friday.

(CNN) - Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's newly official presidential bid drew fresh eyes Tuesday after complimentary reviews of her performance in a face-off with her Republican rivals.
Several CNN analysts declared her one of the winners of the CNN-sponsored New Hampshire GOP debate Monday night, while House Speaker John Boehner said the third-term congresswoman "did a really good job last night."
