(CNN) – Days after former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney scored big political points in New Hampshire at CNN's first GOP Presidential Primary debate, some say the candidate let his victory go to his head.
An editorial in the first-in-the-nation-primary state's Union-Leader, also a co-sponsor of the debate, scourged Romney for acting "high-falutin'" and "haughty."
"Mitt Romney did a good job at Monday night's Republican presidential debate. But not that good," the article states.
"Governor, you won a debate, not an election."
The paper takes Romney to task for flying a bit too high following his appearance at the debate-a performance that was widely praised for showcasing his presidential-like demeanor.
And, apparently, he's got the attitude to match.
At a post-debate visit in Derry the 2008 presidential candidate told the owner of a local business, "I will probably be back in four years. Only this time it will be a larger group and I will probably have Secret Service."
And in Manchester Romney made a not-so-discreet Freudian slip while asking voters to vote for him in "November"– before he corrected himself.
His bypass of the entire Republican primary calendar prompted the Union-Leader to remind Romney that "Granite Staters prefer hard-working and humble to high-falutin' and haughty."
I don't see a problem ere. I don't like Romney and won't vote for him but what's he supposed to do? Grovel? He did well in that he had no major stumbles in the debae and let's bel real, which one of those clowns could possibly beat him? None. Even the most normal, scandal free of the bunch (Pawlenty) went soft on Romney.
Billy's comment about "never voting for a non-Christian" said a lot about Billy and Christianity in general. Evangelicals have become the American Taliban. I'd dearly love to cast a vote without knowing which mythical figure the politician chooses to identify with. I will point out that every President and every member of the Congress professes to worship some god. Maybe if we'd have elected somebody smart enough or honest enough to ignore the nonsense of religion we'd be in better shape now. How's that prayer thing working out?
My favorite line from ROmney was when he said he can't wait to debate the president..LMAO..Romney you're in for a world of surprise because Obama is no push over and in a debate the contrast between these two will be so great its only going to take 1 debate for the American people to see who Romney is going to help as president and who Obama will help in he is given a 2nd term...and he will because all of these GOP candidates are literally a joke.
Any of the Republican candidates would bring class back to the White House. Those currently in attendence need to be shown the back door.
If Obama had been this cocky the right wing and the media would have fried him.
He's a rich white guy. Acting haughty is his birth-right.
Billy – Mormons do believe in Christ. To call them non-Christians in inaccurate and shows your ignorance.
Another millionaire wanting to be President so he can take good care of the top 2 percent, screw everyone else.
Four and The Door
Mitt Romney deserves to show a high level of confidence. He has earned it and it will serve him well with this difficult process he has in front of him leading the the White House. The kind of leadership this country needs demands an individual who shows a strong, confident approach.

Right. And had it been candidate Obama acting like this you'd have called him uppity and claimed he needed to be taken down a peg.
You folks who claim "tax cuts and deregulation" doesn't work anymore. So, what exactly has the past two and a half years under Obama that actually worked? The Obama administration not only kept the same so called "tax cuts" by the Bush Administration, but even went further and gave these currupt corporations "bail out" money. Regulations only work if it's applied to EVERY corporations, not pick-and-choose which one it applies to. Just like the so-called Obamacare. They have given hundreds of waivers to various companies (mainly union heavy), but said that the new law is good for everyone. Why the waivers to this new law then? You have to make the case for why Obama should and deserves a second term. Simply he's a Democrat and not a Republican is NOT good enough anymore. I'm not a particular fan of Romney, but at this point with over 9 percent unemployment, two-three wars going on, and America going bankrupt, I'll settle for someone with real world executive/business experience. How many "economic advisors" have he had coming from academia (Harvard, Brown, the likes)? All failed and resigned. The classroom is nothing like the real world. Obama never got it and unfortunately, he never will. All his blame on the Bush Administration worked the first year or two, but going into the last year of his Presidency is no longer acceptable.
Romney / Perry ?
CNN , why didn't Mitts sons do any military service ?
" high-falutin' "

I'm not even sure what exactly that is. I can only just imagine what all that covers. It sounds like something a red rooster might do. But hey, if the local press says that it is a bad thing, then I will take their word for it. Who are we to argue?
I missed the Republican debate. I was outside watching my grass grow and the paint dry on the barn.
That doesn't surprise me at all he did the same thing 4years ago and lost. I'm gonna remind folks cult members ARE DANGEROUS. We have a good example right now in the White House. By the way, I prayed for a black president and I don't regret it, I saw what happened to Jesse Jackson and it was reprehensible how he was treated by his own party! CRAZY! Here's something else, we can't let the current stuff make us guin shy either, let's keep trying and get a real Christian in there and keep praying for Barack. 🙂
Of course he's haughty. He thinks he's royalty. If this were the 18th century, he would have fit right in with the Tories.
There is a huge difference between confidence and arrogance. Confidence comes from having accomplished something of value, and being a corporate raider is not a great accomplishment in today's economy. I constantly hear references to Obama being arrogant, when this is a man who had to over come some of the biggest barriers imagineable. He did it without the benefit of Romney's connections and money. When Romney was governor, MA ranked 47th in job creation: is this what the GOP wants as its standard bearer?
But I thought only Democrats were snobbish and self-centered.
Well what do you expect? Mitt is extremely wealthy vulture -capitalist Robber Baron elitist. Would anyone expect anything different from someone that dines with diamond plated spoons – and hires illegal alien slave labor to work on his ranch...
while at the same token complaining about illegal aliens or his own Romney-Obama care healthcare plan.
He can't help it...he's Republican...they are just naturally haughty. Its all part of the I'm better than you are attitude! That is why they are constantly trying to stick it to the middle class, seniors and anyone who isn't rich and white. Tax breaks for the rich, no restrictions on corporations and insurance, let banks and wall street do what they want...they get richer...we get poorer and screwed. Do you know why they call it trickle down economics? Its because they like to stand over us and piss....and it just trickles down all over us.
