Perry to undergo minor back surgery

Washington (CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry will undergo minor back surgery next month, his office said Friday.

Perry spokesperson Katherine Cesinger said the "minor medical procedure" on July 1st is to "repair a reoccurring back ailment".

She said the procedure was scheduled several months ago, and will not affect the Governor's current schedule. The surgery will be done in Austin, but no other details are being released.

Perry has said he is now considering entering the Republican presidential field. He has not put a time frame on a decision however, beyond saying nothing would happen until after the Texas legislative session ends June 29th.

This week, Perry traveled to events in Los Angeles and New York City, and is scheduled to speak Saturday in New Orleans before the Republican Leadership Conference.

I wouldn't call implanting a spine a minor surgery. Was he born without a spine or did he just lose it along the way?

So we in Texas are paying for a special session, and probably another one, because our budget was the LAST item on Perry's agenda for the regular session. Is that representative of conservative values?

Meanwhile, he's out of state speaking to any Republican group that will pay him to appear.

And it appears that his anti-abortion legislation has increased the profitability of abortion providers, as they get to charge for a new, extra procedure.

Someone on this comment page said Rick Perry is a great governor; unfortunately, his or her definition of great must come from some obsolute dictionary. Rick Perry is far from great, if elected president (what a joke) America needs to be prepared for him to eliminate the Department of Education since he detests education and teachers and anything related to education. This man is a JOKE and he fits into the same catagory as Sarah Palin.
