Palin Sudan trip a no-go

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin canceled a July trip to Sudan due to "scheduling problems," a source with knowledge of the trip confirmed to CNN Thursday.

Palin was scheduled to travel to the southern part of the war-savaged country with Franklin Graham, son of evangelical leader Billy Graham, to attend the July 9 independence ceremony, information she first told a London newspaper earlier this month.

"She is not going to Sudan due to scheduling problems," said the source, who would not speak on the record because Palin's travel itinerary is considered private.

Palin's representatives refused to comment on the trip. News of the cancelation was first reported by The Washington Post.

But a spokesman for Graham said he still plans to travel to the North African country and confirmed that he and Palin spoke on the phone last week.

"She would be a very good person to help draw attention to the plight of the Christians in South Sudan," Graham told The Post. "We've got George Clooney, we've got some Hollywood-type people. I'm very grateful for what Mr. Clooney has done. But we need everybody we can find."

The two traveled to Haiti in December to visit Samaritan's Purse relief projects. Franklin is president and CEO of the humanitarian organization.

Palin's decision follows several weeks of silence from the potential presidential candidate, raising questions about the future plans for her bus tour. She addressed the reports on her Facebook page Wednesday, saying she has jury duty and is "looking forward to hitting the open road again" when "the next leg of the tour continues when the time comes."

The former GOP vice presidential candidate traveled up the East Coast earlier this month on the first leg of her "One Nation" bus tour.

Sarah is behaving like the school's star cheerleader after she got hooked on meth. I wonder how many guys think she is going to the prom with her?

@Thomas: The wisdom of a grizzly bear I'll buy, realing that bears are not known for wisdom.

How could any sane person compare the quitter from wasilla, who is nothing but mean spirited, greedy, narcissistic, a quitter, and uncharitable with a woman who worked quietly and endlessly to improve the lives of those among us with the least? This may be the stupidest comparison of any I've seen on a blog anywhere.

@ thomas writes: “Only Sarah has the touch of Mother Teresa”

sarah has the touch of Mother Teresa?! You have got to be out of your friggin mind to write that.

With a special needs newborn baby and an unwed pregnant teenager, palin said "I DIDN'T BLINK" when offered the VP position (that she was pining for)! Was this showing motherly love?! Mother Teresa was never a power and attention loving narcissist. She was a woman that truly cared about people. There is NO comparison between greedy petty pallin and Mother Teresa.

Simple Sarah discovered that her "i need to get all the attention" tour would be interrupted by this. No on else is allowed to get any publicity (ie ruining Romney's NH trip) but her EXCEPT when it makes her look idiotic.....all the time by the way. It's too bad she isn't going. Maybe her Visa would be found to be invalid and they'd keep her

Everytime she is confronted with a question or reality check about her prez run facade it is the medias fault-It's getting OLD Sarah look at the polls . LOL.

    "scheduling problems"?

    She's a Republican.

Once her staff googled "Sudan" and found out where it was, they learned that there were black people there.

    Those people scare Republicans.

I'm guessing that she needs to stay at home to hire a lawyer for her daughter. Bristol has pretty much told the world that she was raped by the father of her child. I'm guessing that he's not taking it very well.

It was deemed a "NO GO" because Palin was unable to find Sudan on a map.

She cancelled when she found out they are black Africans. Initially she thought Sudan was in Eastern Europe though not visible from her Alaskan doorstep.
