(CNN) – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie not only shoots down questions about running for president in 2012, he also doesn't think he's vice presidential material.
"The person that picked me as vice president would have to be sedated," Christie said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "Seriously, forget it."
The one-term Republican governor said his blunt talk, much of which has made him popular among national Republicans, means he isn't a good fit for the number two spot on the GOP ticket in the next election.
"I mean that's who I am and I don't think that's vice presidential material," Christie said referencing an interaction he had with a voter who questioned where he chooses to school his children.
A potential Christie endorsement in the presidential primary season depends on how strongly he feels about the candidates, a decision he has yet to make. But he said the country is looking for someone like him at the national level to deliver straight talk.
"What they do say in New Jersey is, we like him and we think he's telling us the truth," Christie said. "I think we need to have that type of politics on the national level."
That blunt talk applied to the issue of gay marriage Sunday. Off the heals of the New York bill signed into law Friday to allow same-sex couples to legally wed, Christie said he would not sign a bill to legalize such unions.
"I am not a fan of same-sex marriage, it's not something I support," Christie said. "I believe marriage should be between one man and one woman. That's my view and that will be the view of our state because I wouldn't sign a bill like the one that was in New York."
After Cristie called the Navy SEALS murderers, said Bin Laden was murdered, I could'nt compehend the rest of the interview.
there is no Christ in christie
Hey guys who call him a bully: I believe Anthony Weiner had a louder mouth than Christie. You libs call him a bully? Seriously, if he's a bully, then you guys are crybabies. And when you say he's pushing a moral agenda on everyone, since when is he trying to change the law? Someone only pushes an agenda when they're trying to change something. The LGBT community are the ones pushing an agenda. If you guys are against pushing agendas, yell at them. Otherwise, just state your opinions, and get over your whining.
If Barack Obama conducted himself the way Christie does, Fox News staff and their audience would lose their minds.
I wonder why Cristie`s belligerent, condescending, intimidating style is OK with so many?
Once again, the GOP shows how shallow and desperate they are that all a person has to do to be considered a "candidate" is:
– to be willing to shoot off your mouth and criticize President Obama
– side with the wealthy by proposing cutting taxes for 1) a group that doesn't need them and 2) have been PROVEN to NOT WORK to create jobs here in the U.S.
Wake up, folks! All the GOP does is spread fear, anger, hatred and division. The GOP doesn't have any ideas or policies that work; all they want is to regain power.
Not the kind of people capable or deserving to lead our great nation through the challenges that lie before us.
he's a homophobe and a hypocrite, is this what the GOP has come to?
Christie should forget it. He has destroyed NJ and his approval rating there is low and dropping. He is just a loud mouth with NO solutions. He destroyed NJ's school system, destroyed unions, destroyed infrastructure projects, and has increased the state debt. He in NO leader. He is just a big fat bully. Another Republican loser who talks a good game and then does NOTHING but makes the situation worse. NJ is far worse off now than when Christie took office.
Republicans are really desperate.
Just a crude boor. Another example of what happens when people elect a screamer expecting him to have a clue about governing.
christie is not even going to make a second term as governor. This blathering imbecile is showing his true colors and the people of jersey are wising up fast. He would be as good a chioce for VP as palin was.
christie never met a lie he didn't like. And "liberals" moderates and anyone who values the state of NJ know full well how to handle him and that is by throwing him out on his ear next election.
