Washington (CNN) - Welcome Thad McCotter to the GOP presidential field for 2012. The conservative, guitar playing five-term Michigan Congressman will file his paperwork to run for President today, a spokesman confirmed.
McCotter will make an official announcement at a Fourth of July festival in his home state tomorrow evening. A program for tomorrow's festival states the Republican presidential candidate "will also be taking the stage to show off his musical talents."
Fond of quoting rock bands in his political commentary, McCotter described last spring's near government shutdown as a "Communication Breakdown" between the parties in a reference to the Led Zeppelin classic.
McCotter is considered a long-shot candidate by party insiders. But he is laying the groundwork for a campaign in Iowa. Last month McCotter anonymously purchased a prime location for the upcoming the Ames Straw Poll in August.
A website for McCotter's campaign, mccotter2012.com, is now up. It states boldly at the top of the page: "Your American dream is endangered."
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Dr. Frankenstein could take a portion from each of the now 8 Republican Presidential hopefuls and STILL not come up with an alternative that is worthy of replacing President Obama.
Christie/Ryan: Destroying the economy in your life time.
I'd like to see the next debate feature everyone who has formally filed to run for the presidency. That would nice to see all who is out there and "out there."
This man has ZERO chance of winning anything, and I mean ZERO
