Congressman calls for Hill investigation of Murdoch hacking charges

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Pressure mounted for a federal investigation into Rupert Murdoch's media empire Thursday as a key member of a House oversight committee called for Congress to look into allegations that one of Murdoch's U.S.-based companies possibly broke anti-bribery and other laws.

Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, told CNN that "Congress has important oversight responsibilities" in responding to the charges and "getting to the bottom of this evolving scandal."

Rupert's News Corp. - the parent company of Fox News - may have engaged in "political espionage or personal espionage," Braley said.

Let's see how quickly the repugs can halt this nonsense. We can't have any interference with the great Propaganda Network in these trying times. How will the masses know what to think?? How will they know what evil our President is up to today.

Even the other networks will be at a loss, as they all try to follow or imitate fox, envious of its profit and market share.

America is a "People First" not a "Corporation First" country. It's time to start acting like it.

The American Dream is about having equal access to liberty and freedom regardless of your "personal" traits [religion, gender, race]. The American Dream is not about becoming wealthy. The freedom to excercise your ambition - which may lead to wealth - is an example of the American Dream

We have allowed certain individuals, associations, special interest, and parties to suggest that business is the holy grail of life and that, as such, we should cut them all sorts of slack on paying taxes and acting responsibly. It is time for this to stop. For all those "conservatives" [be they Democrats or Republicans] that claim to know America's history and "love it", I say, if you don't agree with what I've said above, then you really are not keepers of the spirit of our great country.

Has no one else noticed the irony in this?

Rupert Murdoch essentially wiretapped without a warrant. That is illegal.

Yet when the Bush administration committed this illegal activity, there were people out there who actually praised him for violating the Constitution in such a blatant manner.

Sure, one's the government and the other is a would-be entertainment robber baron who spews tabloid news like it was true journalism, but the same act was committed.

It's about time they are catching up with this scumbag. Of course they will find something. The first thing they should do is check up on Fox News. That is, unless Rush Limbaugh puts a stop to it all. He is worse than ever with the things he says and nobody checks up on him.

This intermingling of Media and Government that has gone on in Britain and probably here in the US, will erode peoples trust to the extent of destroying the country. They do not even trust the Police over there now!

If George Soros has some illegal acitivity I'm sure he will be investigated. As of now, he's not. But just because 'your guy' was found to be a crook doesn't mean Soros is a crook. Eat a rock.
