    Cantor is worthless. Acts like a spoiled little brat. We can only hope that the resonsible Boehner shows up and not the posturing political hack. These two guys can make or break this process and I, for one, do not feel good that the economic well-being of the nation and to some extent, the world, rests on their actions.

    To quote Ronald Reagan "Congress consistently brings the Government to the edge of default before facing its responsibility. This brinkmanship threatens the holders of government bonds and those who rely on Social Security and veterans benefits. Interest rates would skyrocket, instability would occur in financial markets, and the Federal deficit would soar. The United States has a special responsibility to itself and the world to meet its obligations. It means we have a well-earned reputation for reliability and credibility – two things that set us apart from much of the world."

    @President Obama,
    The ONLY thing the GOtP want is your total and utter destruction at any costs. If anything in this world can be viewed as your success or if something makes you look successful, you can count on a Republican to attempt to destroy it.
    They don't care about The People, budget deficits or the debt, the only thing they care about is destroying you!
    You need run over them the way Bush ran over the Dems when he was in power.
    Destroy them the way they want to destroy you.

    US Constitution, Article II, Section 3: excerpt
    ... he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;...

    US Constitution, Article 1, Section 7; excerpt
    All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

    Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States:....

    In other words, it is up to the House to originate spending bills, and send them on to the Senate. In the case of unresolved differences, then it is the President's responsibility to step in and negotiate between the chambers. The President does not originate budget legislation. The minority party in the House is not responsible. It is the sole responsiblity of the majority party in the House to originate spending bills, which means Republicans.

    The artificial credit ceiling was created by Congress as a safety mechanism to prevent abuse. It is not required by, nor defined by the US Consitution.

    Cantor can't be trusted. He's working in the interest of the Teatards and not the country.

    Don't cave, President Obama. Tell the GOBPbaggers that until they propose a sacrifice for corporations and the ultrawealthy there can be no deal. Sacrifice must be shared.

    I wonder if Obama heard what Steve Wynn had to say about him and his policies? Hopefully he has gotten a clue and starts doing things that encourage businesses to take risks and hire people. His two years of attacks and demonization has obviously not done the trick.

    Why not just meet with Boehner? Cantor is an obstructionist who wants Boehner's job. I didn't think that this was possible, but, since Cantor has been showing up, I have actually developed some respect for Boehner. I think that without the brain-dead Tea Party interference, a plan would have already been worked out. These people are destroying America. Rep. Boehner, you should really watch your back. Has anyone noticed how Cantor looks at Boehner when he standing behind him at the podium? Creeeppy.
