Bachmann warns of 'dictator' Obama

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said President Obama would be a "dictator" if he raised the debt ceiling by executive order, using the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution as justification.

"It's Congress that does the spending. The president is prohibited to do that. If he had the power to do that he would effectively be a dictator," the Minnesota Congresswoman said Thursday on CNN's "American Morning." "There would be no reason for Congress to even come to Washington, D.C. He would be making the spending decisions … Clearly that's unconstitutional."

With the looming August 2 deadline and no agreement reached to raise the debt ceiling, some have suggested the president sign an executive order to raise the borrowing limit without Congressional approval. A section of the 14th amendment states "the validity of the public debt of the United States … shall not be questioned."

Bachmann also leveled increased criticism on the president, giving him a "big 'f' on his economic report card."

"What President Obama has failed to do is properly understand the issues. On every measure this president has failed," Bachmann said.

Michele needs to spend a little study time with the constitution.
The congress has no power to set debt limits by the constitution but coicidently the President does.
Until you learn enough to speak intellegently you should just shut up. It shows your ignorance to everyone that actually listens to your banter.

The likes of Bachmann, Cain, Palin, Perry, etc. once in power would immediately start acting like dictators and start to take away the rights of the American people. Just look at the dictator governor in Wisconsin and what he has done and is doing so far. Can't you hear how they already talk down to us like we are children. Listen to the tone of their voices.

I hope he does use executive order. It will make the repubs look like bigger idiots than they already are. They had a deal in front of them which would have gotten their hands on the golden egg for repubs the entitlements for they poor and middle class. But they can't except taxing the rich.My way or the highway is gonna turn out to be the highway. It's always funny to hear a repub/teapartier call's someone else a

I thought she said Obama had a blank check ? She must be confused because it was Bush the dictator that had the blank check for eight years.

This woman can talk in circles and never get tired. Two things I wish the media would ask her is; would Obama be a dictator even though the 14th amendment says he can raise the debt ceiling?; and if it's congress that spends the money, then congress and not Obama, or Bush for that matter who is responsible for this mess. Well? Which is is cupcake?

I like how she says its unconstituational for obama to make spending decisions but she blames him first for the budget not getting done and excess spending by "big" government.
