PHOTO: Boehner gets pizza delivery

Washington (CNN) - Pizza was the sustenance for Republican House members Thursday night in House Speaker John Boehner's office.

While the top Republican met with members of Congress to round up the votes to pass his plan to raise the debt ceiling, staff members were seen carrying pizzas from Papa John's into his office on Capitol Hill. A vote is expected Friday after Republicans failed to muster sufficient support to ensure the proposal would pass Thursday.

Do the radical freshmen not see reality, or do they just simply do not care? Neither. They believe that they can change reality into their unrealistic vision.

This is probably as close as the GOP gets to understanding the majority of Americans. Been working all day, too tired to cook, order pizza. Yesterday was a really bad, terrible day for Boehner.

It would perhaps be more useful if the GOP/TP do not get anything to eat and drink before they have come up with something useful. Well on second thought, they have not done anything useful in over 10 years; so why should we hope they have an idea now? They would rather starve to death then to get of their sworn goal of “making the President fail”. But, their behavior is not going to be forgotten and also not forgiven in 2012! So have fun with that pizza while it lasts.

Congratulations tea-publicans! It's happening as I type. Markets are responding to your ignorance and looks like the US is on its way to a depression. Thanks for "taking our country back". Now, I gues it's time to take it back from YOU!!!

It's more than the working poor and elder will be able to have after even ONE missed check. Did our tax dollars pay for them to eat while they push us into third-world status?

I hope my tax dollars didn't go to pay for that. I also find it odd that there are no mom & pop pizza places in the capital.....we had to order from a multi-national business....how Republican.

The way things are going for Republicans, they will probably default on the pizza payment too.

At least someone is working on the problem! Democrats have the Reid bill, which is no better. There is no leadership in Washington these days.

The Speaker has a tough job trying to manage a political party divided between the old guard of corporate lap-dogs and the new class of ultra right-wing, Tea Party radicals. Of the two groups the old guard would be the easiest to manage, since greed and obligation to special interests groups motivate them and these things are predictable. The Tea Party crowd lacks any real knowledge of economics and many feel validated only after they've destroyed our functioning government. They represent the angry and bigoted crowd who spends every waking moment glued to Fox News and believing that whole load of crap. Pizza might not be enough to help these useless bags of protoplasm arrive at logical conclusions.

"I hope taxpayer money wasn't spent to pay for those pizzas."

It was. Boehner receives $2,083.33 PER MONTH directly as an "expense payment." He is the only one who continues to receive expense payments directly. Pelosi, Hoyer, et al, have refused theirs.

Good God guys. If you're gonna waste taxpayer money on Pizza, at least get something good. Notice they went after the big, corporate Papa Johns instead of one of those "small businesses" they love so much. Isn't there a Johnny's New York pizza up the street or something? This only confirms what we've known all along. Republicans just want to help those who already have the means to help themselves.
