House rejects Reid's debt plan

Washington (CNN) - The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has rejected the debt ceiling plan proposed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada.

The plan was rejected in a sharply polarized 173-246 vote. Republicans unanimously opposed the measure while most Democrats backed it.

GOP leaders conducted the vote on Reid's bill under rules requiring a two-thirds majority for passage, thereby ensuring its defeat.

The really odd thing is that Harry Reid is filibusting his own proposal in the Senate! Just goes to show that Obama, Reid and Pelosi are all politics, all the time, no matter what the issue is and no matter the consequences to the American people.

They want to change the Constitution of The United States- the republicans and teapartyers-and will NOT vote for anything until they get it. Mcconnell can achieve his goal of making President Obama a one term president and the republican teapartyers can continue to rape pillage and plunder til nothing is left of America as we know it.

Sigh... The Republicans have successfuly destroyed their own name. Even with them misleading voters and creating discrimanatory voting laws to stop minorities, they will still lose in the election. Obama 2012!!!

It wasn't bad enough that the Republicans almost destroyed the country during the Bush years, but here they are again with no concern for anyone but themselves and their Pledgemasters. People have got to finally understand they are no good for America and vote them out. Republicans are tied to a Tea Party Cult and pledges which means they no longer work for the people but for their party sponsers only.

  9. The Greedy Old Pigs have declared class war on US!

Oooh, what a surprise, the GOBP can't compromise because it's not a real party, it's a cult for corrupt corporatism. Obviously, they will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the real world. "We care for the greedy, not the needy" is not a viable party platform, yet it's all they seem to have.

Please recognize that these years are the last dying breaths of the Repubkican party. As such it is like a wounded, desperate animal and under the corrupting influences of the TEA party, it will break all the rules in it`s bid to institutionalize it`s ideaology.

Do not trust the GOP. Do not expect it to conduct itself with honor. It will lie, cheat & decieve to get its way.

The growing diversity of America hurts the GOP. Better educated citizentry hurts the GOP. A more secular society hurts the GOP.

"Even with them misleading voters and creating discrimanatory voting laws to stop minorities"

The current divide and conquer great soceity Democrats are even worse than their bedsheet wearing forefathers.

To imply that minorites are incapable of having ID, that dude is that racist dude. The reality is that the only disenfranchised voters from these fair laws will be the Democrat Daily lib dead voters. Funny how it is justified for the Democrat to discount the votes from our military men and women, but it is racist and a hate crime to take away the right to vote from the dead Democrats.

  13. GOP = Greed Over People

Of course, the House GOP does not support the Senate's bill.

It does not dismantle Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.

@ Teddy--I have to agree with you. The people who put those idiots in office deserve exactly what they are getting. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to suffer because they are such idiots.

Good for the Republicans, We need to show Pelosi and Reid that they are done. The American people are finally awake an can see that they are only interested in their own self interest. Stay strong! We are behind you. In 2012 we can take control and put an end to the madness. Let's get our country back on tract. Cut the spending, clean up our entitlements, No fraud, No waste. live like the everyday working American!
