(CNN) - President Barack Obama handily defeated Sen. John McCain in Pennsylvania in 2008, but a new poll offers an early glimpse into the minds of Keystone State voters – and it's not pretty for the President.
Pennsylvania voters disapprove of President Obama by a 54 to 43 percent margin, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday. Perhaps more strikingly, 52 percent of Pennsylvanians say the president does not deserve to be re-elected.
Yes, the same president who received 55 percent of the Keystone State's votes less than three years ago.
Forty-four percent of respondents said that if the 2012 presidential election were held today, they would choose former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Just 42 percent said they'd vote for President Obama. When the question was asked on June 15, Obama held a 47 to 40 point lead.
Romney is the only one who appears to have an edge over Obama in the new poll. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is within two points of Obama, 45 to 43 percent; Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is down eight points, 47 to 39 percent; and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has yet to formally enter the race, trails Obama by six points, 45 to 39 percent.
The poll was conducted by telephone with 1,358 registered voters from July 25-31 and has a sampling error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

That's why I moved out of PA. I couldn't stand being around so many narrow minded people. No insight, no forethought, no compromise. Just follow the leader and be their sheep. But, as for this poll, I'm guessing they only talked to tea party an republicans.
Here is what makes the current list of candidates unelectable to the independents:
Romney: Morman/flip flops/Romneycare/and most importanly Morman
Cain: knows nothing of politics & government/muslim hate comments/knows nothing of world policy (lack of right to return)
Bachmann: subsidies and government handout taker/lack of knowlege of world policy/extreme antics/not that bright/ultra religious
Santorum: google his name/extreme antics/ultra religious
Pawlenty: lack of back bone/state of MN current fiscal issues
Perry: TX budget lies/HPV vaccine mandate/not trustworthy
Gingrich: infedelity/not trustworthy
Palin: self explanatory: see Bachmann above
Paul: wants to legalize heroin and prostitution
Johnson: who?
I can go on and on, this current crop won't be able to secure the independents and will motivate the left to keep them out. Obama is the less of 2 evils when presented with facts, all the heresay opinions won't persuade those who lean left and those that don't like the candidates will ensure they do their part to keep them out. Huntsman has the best shot but he's morman and the GOP won't elect him because of his former job and his refusal to lie and slander.
Were they all transplants from Alabama or Georgia (or worse yet, Mississippi)?
Well, if the Pennsylvanians are rejecting Obama because they've decided they prefer Republican policies, I would say based on recent evidence it's not necessary to make a change.
