Bachmann's debt vote pride hits TV

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann launched her third television ad Wednesday in Iowa, touting her vote against an increase in the debt ceiling.

"Barack Obama has driven our economy into a ditch. Someone needs to say 'no.'" Bachmann said in the spot. "I voted against raising the debt limit because it's time to balance the budget and pay down the debt. I mean it and you can believe it."

In her first ad in Iowa, the Minnesota representative pledged to vote against legislation that raised the U.S. borrowing limit. The new spot is a continuation of that campaign message.

Bachmann also asked Iowans to turn out to the high stakes Ames Straw Poll in the first-in-the-nation caucus state. The August 13 event is an early test of strength for campaigns that have their sights set on the caucuses.

"Won't you join me here in Ames for the Straw Poll, and let's send a message to Washington," Bachmann said in the spot that will air across the state, according to the campaign. Team Bachmann did not release other details about the size of the ad buy.

Bachmann, an Iowa native, has risen to the top of recent polls in the Hawkeye State following her June 14 entry into the race for the White House.

Here's how much Bachmann hates social spending and thinks it should be cut:

    – Her family farm accepts federal farm subsidies.
    – Her husband's "clinic" accepts Medicare
    – She and her hubby purchased their house through Freddie Mac

Yeah, now that she's got hers, to heck with everyone else!

Saying you want to "balance the budget" doesn't make it happen. You have to give specifics. Is she calling for an end to all the overseas wars? Is she proposing that we raise taxes? Raise the retirement age for SS? You can't just say "reduce spending."

I believe the economy was already in the ditch when Obama became president.

The GOP does love to rewrite history.

Raising the debt limit has nothing to do with balancing the budget!!!! Doesn't she get this? It's about the US paying for the debts that it has already incurred!!!! All the debt that we have accumulated for since our republic's creation!!!!!!!!

Ditto to you. This is 2011, not 2010. Haven't you been paying attention to results from the special elections? What what happens to Wisconsin next week.
