Trump: If I were treasury secretary...

(CNN) - Donald Trump responded Monday to Mike Huckabee's suggestion that he serve as treasury secretary, predicting who would be hurt most by the potential appointment.

"I'll tell you, it would be very painful for China, it would be very painful for OPEC, it would be very painful for many of the countries that are just ripping us off," the real estate mogul said on Fox News.

Former Arkansas Gov. Huckabee, who first made the suggestion last week, reiterated his call Monday morning, saying current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has "failed the economy and failed this president."

"The president needs to have him walk the plank, if not for policy reasons, he needs to do it for the political optics," Huckabee said on Fox News. "And bringing Donald Trump in is a real optical game changer."

Geithner announced Sunday he would remain in his post through the 2012 election.

Although Trump seemingly dismissed the suggestion, he showered Huckabee, the former 2008 GOP presidential candidate, with praise.

"I think he would have gotten the nomination personally [in 2012], but you know he had lots of considerations," Trump said. "So, he said that, I'm greatly honored."

Huckabee and Trump decided against bids for the White House earlier this year after public flirtations. Criticism of China and OPEC were oft-heard lines from Trump as he traveled to early presidential voting states mulling a bid.

Stock Markets are off more than 10% in the past 10 days. Do we REALLY want a BLOWHARD like Trump shooting his mouth off at this critical time?

Donald Trump is nothing but a speculator – – he's a scam artist. The man has numerous people suing him for making off with their condo deposits. He borrows money from banks and then stiffs his creditors. He charges fees for ventures [like Trump Vodka] to use his name because HE THINKS it helps certain items sell. I make over $300K per year and WOULD NEVER associate with anything Trump is affiliated with. He hardly knows anything about capital markets, finance, accounting, mitigating / hedging global currency risks, etc., etc.

I'm still waiting for that "REALLY REALLY, SHOCKING NEWS" that the Mr. Chump promised America regarding improprieties around the President's birth & birth certificate. After all, he was really, really concerned and supposedly deployed a team of investigators to Hawaii and around the world to bring us the truth.

Good to see the Monday Morning Quarterbacks are out in force this fine Monday Morning. Talk's cheap and that's all these 2 have. Step up and be counted, do something about the problem, or shut up and go away.

He's had his successes and he's had his failures. I don't consider someone who bankrupts his companies as a way out of poor decisions as a robust addition to the nation's economic woes.

If The Trumpster is appointed anything in Government and he goes off on OPEC, he and the rest of the US is going to be in for a very rude awakening. He seems to be under the delusion that OPEC needs us, No. It is in fact, us who needs OPEC. If he's in any position of power and talks enough smack, OPEC's just going to cut us off and then we'll be f'ed. All thanks to The Trumpster and his ego that trumps Kanye West.

Every body has already said what I think. But for a guy who started out with billions of dollars his father left him and went bankrupt three times, we all know he sure knows how to handle money ...believe it....he knows one thing for sure and that's a fact how to blow everything and go bankrupt ...just think. what would he do to this treasury. Social security with all it's trillions would be broke in a month.

This man needs to shut up. He talks about OPEC, China and other countries ripping off the US. He does the same thing, if not worse. He was going to build a Trump Towers in our city. Lots of people paid deposits to secure residence in Trump Towers. There were constant problems with the project. He and the developer started squabbling and Trump pulled out of the deal. The project has totally shut down. However, he nor the developer wants to give back the deposits to those people. Trump you are the biggest rip off.

Who would have thought? The only sane politician in the land is a television personality! Oh well, the best President we had in recent years was a B grade movie actor, so why not.
