Palin bus tour to roll into Iowa

(CNN) - After a more than two-month hiatus, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is planning to crash the presidential party once again with a heartland-themed re-launch of her "One Nation" bus tour this week in Iowa, according to a Palin fundraising email obtained by CNN.

Palin is bringing her Constitution-draped bus to the Iowa State Fair, just 30 miles south of where the Republican presidential field will take the stage on Thursday for a presidential debate in Ames.

It's not yet clear which day the tour begins, but her surprise arrival in Iowa will happen before the closely watched Ames straw poll. Palin is not on the straw poll ballot.

According to a video link included the fundraising solicitation for Palin's political action committee, Sarah PAC, it appears the bus will also take Palin to Missouri and Illinois to visit the respective hometowns of former presidents Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan.

"The heartland is perfect territory for more of the One Nation Tour as we put forth efforts to revitalize the fundamental restoration of America by highlighting our nation's heart, history, and founding principles," Palin wrote in the email.

Sarah PAC Treasurer Tim Crawford would not provide more the details about the tour.

During the opening act of her bus tour in May, Palin toured historical sites along the East Coast, grabbing countless headlines along the way and stealing a share of the political spotlight from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who announced his presidential bid in New Hampshire at the same time her bus was driving into the state.

Federal paperwork reveals that her political action committee shelled out nearly $20,000 on the tour this spring.

The bus tour sequel adds even more drama to a blockbuster political week in Iowa, which holds the first contest in the presidential nomination fight.

Along with the debate and the make-or-break straw poll, most of the Republican candidates are slated to deliver stump speeches this week at the Iowa State Fair on the Des Moines Register-sponsored political soapbox.

And on Sunday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Palin ally who is on the verge of joining the 2012 race, will make his Iowa debut at a Republican fundraising dinner in Waterloo.

Palin's re-emergence in Iowa just hours before the debate is a reminder that the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee intends to remain part of the presidential discussion as long as possible, despite being largely dismissed by party insiders.

While polls show that Republicans harbor doubts about whether she should run for president, Palin would undoubtedly be a factor in the GOP primary thanks to her popularity among conservative activists and a knack for attracting media attention.

A Gallup survey out Tuesday showed that Palin generates more enthusiasm among GOP voters than most of the candidates already in the race. And as Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour recently put it, "she could raise enough money to burn a wet mule."

Her advisers have long emphasized that such star power gives her the ability to delay a decision about joining the race until after Labor Day.

Palin has pointed to September as a loose deadline for making a decision about whether she will seek the GOP presidential nomination.

There is also anecdotal evidence that Palin has the potential to shake up the Republican race in Iowa.

Despite having no formal campaign infrastructure in the state, hundreds of supporters turned out in June to catch a glimpse of Palin when a sympathetic film about her rise to power debuted in Pella.

She has plans to return to the state over Labor Day weekend for a Tea Party rally in the Des Moines area.

Please stay out of Iowa. State not big enough for you or Perry. Both have big egos and love $$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Just go back to Alaska and grow old with your grandchildren.

This woman is disgusting and the media should just stop reporting on what she does, where she is – it's only more fuel for her. She is definitely a self-serving opportunist with a huge ego. Sarah, take your bus and park it where the sun doesn't shine!

Is she finally giving up on her abstinence bit? Since her children don't listen to her, why would she expect an entire country of people to? Forgot – her narcisstic personality will keep her mouth rambling, even if she doesn't make sense, because she thinks she does. She is even ignorant enough to think she can run a country because she is "neighbors" with Russia. Wonder how many times she invited Putin over for tea? Right, she doesn't do tea, she does guns. Perhaps she at least started reading newspapers and online media so she won't get tripped up on that question again . . . oh, but then again, not sure she can read. Right, she can, because she was very specific on which emails she wanted released and those which were sure to discredit/embarrass or possibly even put her in legal hot water, you know, too much use of Alaska's fine taxpayer's resources for personal reasons . . . yes, America, another upstanding politician, ahem, self-proclaimed but absolutely run of the mill politician that will annoy our very being for the next year. I'm already depressed.

Sarah Palin, my cocker spanial is smarter than you.

She is not crashing the party. She is going to anoint her canidate (sounds like Rick Perry Texas). Palin could never stand for election again based on her track record as a politician so this is the next best thing. The Republcans party is one clown short of a circus and here comes the bus.

This woman does not have a snowball's chance in hell of getting the Republican nomination and she knows it. This is just more showboating to keep her name before the public to maintain her asking price for TV contracts, book deals, etc.

To Ibamaliar: You poor, self-deluded thing, you. I hate to crash your party, but it's highly unlikely that there are "millions out there waiting" for her. As far as the left's ignorance regarding her? I think you better pick up that Romper Room mirror...jeez louizze...

A friend of mine said she had to stick together with Palin, cuz hockey moms stick up for each other. UGH! This woman is a media hog, she can't get enough of seeing herself plastered all over the internet. By all means do not ask her anything related to the country, the government, history or what magazines she reads. That would be "Gotcha" questions! I would love to see her debate with Barack Obama! She wouldn't have a thing to say except for the lies and stories she's been spewing all over the internet. SARAH PALIN is a HUGE LIAR!

OK Max Leygrume, or Todd, whatever you call yourself, besides being one of Sarah Palin's people. Anybody who seriously feels she's Presidential material should join her Super Circus. The woman took 5 yrs in 5 different colleges to get a puny journalism BS degree. Millions of other American women have gone above and beyond her, yet quietly live their lives without thinking they're God's gift to the U.S. Just how much does Ms. Palin love herself? Ton's according to you and her.

It'll be fun to watch fellow GOPers who are putting in time and effort on the campaign trail, and their response to being upstaged by Miss Sarah AND Governor GoodHair on the same weekend. Personally, I'd be offended.

I wish people would stop calling her Governor. She only served a half term at best before she quit. Seems like she gave up that right. As I recall, she said she quit because she could not do her job with all the law suits that were being filed against her. she bankrupted the town and didn't have a thing to show for it and was mired in scandal.

I seriously, I pray that this vacuous feeble minded idiot wins the GOP primary. President Obama debating her would be like swatting a fly with a Buick.

Max – you're delusional. You need help. Sarah Palin couldn't get elected as a dog catcher by anyone with an IQ over 40. And, to finish you last statement: "Palin will make you throw up!" Go back in your hole Max and dream of your Goddess . . .

  22. The woman is a phoney

Palin does not have the depth of intelligence or the intestinal fortitude to debate other candidates or to compete.

She is happy driving around trying to spoil the game for others.

If the Republicans do well in 2012 it will be IN SPITE of Palin, not because of her.

Just not getting enough attention lately are you Sarah. Go ahead roll on in to Iowa. You'll fit right in with all the other farm hicks there. I'm sure you'll get the headline attention you've been missing during all the debt ceiling debate.

Jury duty over, Governor Palin returns to her bus tour just like she promised. She's an honest, Godly woman true to her word. Unlike the empty-suit loser in the White House currently.

Hahahaha...@Max Leygrume, Sarah Palin is as dumb as a rock. The only thing she cares about is media attention and being famous. She could care less about this country, or about being president. She is leading the gullible like you right along with her. If she ever, by some crazy and highly unlikely change became president, our country would probably be taken over by China in her first year. She is popular with about 10% of the population and the rest of us just watch her like we'd watch an accident – morbid curiousity.
