Iowa GOP Chair: Palin has work to do in the state

Washington (CNN) - Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn said former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin better get to work in Iowa if she wants to run for president.

"This isn't the type of process where you can give speeches to thousands, or you can be behind 30-second ads or even Facebook posts," Strawn said in an interview on CNN's "John King, USA" Thursday. "You need to be on the ground, letting Iowans look you in the eye and kick the tires."

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee hasn't announced a White House bid, but she made news Wednesday when confirming that her "One Nation" bus tour will roll into the Iowa State Fair this weekend.

The Hawkeye state hosts the first caucus in the 2012 primary and caucus calendar.

"She needs to do those things that have proven what you need to do to be successful in the Iowa caucuses, which is get here and actually let the voters ask tough questions," Strawn said.

Palin will be in Iowa during a crucial weekend for the 2012 presidential field. The second presidential debate takes place Thursday night in Ames, a city that's also home to the high-stakes straw poll on Saturday.

While she hasn't thrown her hat in the ring, Palin has remained at the forefront of recent political issues, weighing in on the debt deal and Standard and Poor's downgrade of the U.S. credit rating through media appearances and posts on her Facebook page.

"reading Palin's postings, and wondering where it all went wrong." It went wrong in Tuscon. The violent rhetoric of her and the conservative would-be-Christian ilk inflamed the unstable. In America if she were a muslim, she would be labeled a terrorist but because she's a Christian the media and other facets of society give her an out? An extremist is an extremist no matter what God and political party they hide behind and how utterly spineless of the media and the country not to call her out on this. Terrorists use their political party and their religious beliefs in a pathetic attempt to justify their socially unacceptable and unlawful behavior which always affects the rights of others. She fits this mold perfectly.

I love it when the malignant rightwing has to suffer the logical consequences of their deluded fairytale worldview.

Don't worry Teatards, Bachmann will continue to promote a theocratic America based on the religeous right's view of the Bible, even if she herself gets to pick and choose which part of the Bible she follows personally.

Can you imagine the millions of slack-jawed idiots that will view the continuing error-prone, irrational, god-less, anti-American, delusional show put on by the GOP candidates over the next few months, and then prouidly CHOOSE to vote it into office come Nov. 2012?!! It absolutely staggers the mind that so many people in 21st century America, with all its modern benefits and free access to the combined knowledge of history, would freely choose to regress their society back into the Dark Ages.

I can only conclude that something has gone seriously wrong inside the genes of [R]ightwingers. Their human ancestors could not have evolved into modern humans with the genetic deficiencies that these 'people' have more recently taken on. Perhaps that is yet another reason that this sub-species does not believe in evolution?

She won't run .. why woiuld she? Fox pays her about $1m per year as a consultant, last I heard she was getting $100k per speaking engagement. I'm kinda stupid but doesn't that add up to a good deal more than she'd EVER make as an official leader? She already has all of the adoration and influence she needs over the TP idiots, and everywhere she goes she's met with no-one but loving supporters. If she were president ... ALL OF THAT WOULD END! The blind adoration, the way she can let a turd fall from here face and she still gets applause, the absolute rock-star welocomings.

She'd actually have to be accountable, she'd actually have to face those that do not approve of her. She'd be forced to deal with politicians and world leaders that are WAY smarter than her. She'd be horribly underclassed and undercultured, and she'd look like a complete tourist at any foreign affirs meetings. What little credibility we have with the rest of the free world would rapidly dissolve.

And she knows all of that.

What I want to know is how she can get away with breaking PAC and Campaign Finance laws by using her PAC paid for and maintained bus... The laws are ver yplain on how the "donated" money can be used, and it has to be used to back something political that is real... Something like an actual running candidate or some proposition that is set to be voted on... Since she isn't running or supporting anything that is set to be voted on she is breaking the law... It is not to be used for "anything" personal (see Christine O'donnel)...

It just amazes me she can get away with actually breaking the law and no one calls her on it... Guess it is no diffrerent than her posting on Facebook and tweeting what ever nonsense she wants to with no chance of rebuttal face to face... So she doesn't have to explain anything to anyone unless she wants to... And since she gets blasted for her foolish comments after she posts/tweets them she always pulls the poor me being picked on defense...

But I have to say, the biggest thing that really amazes me is all the "ignorant" people who follow the likes of her or Michelle Bachman and others who have no qualifications for much of anything...

As Forrest Gump so elequently put it, "Stupid is as stupid does" 🙂

Palin isn't running. She doesn't want to govern. If she did, she wouldn't have quit her governorship. She wants to make money and she see's an opportunity to be in the public eye. Anyone of you out there who has any ideas that Palin will run or even be elected is fooling themselves. She is not in the least bit interested in educating herself; completely un curious and also so full of herself that she doesn't seem to be aware of how ignorant she truly is.

    Tony 140 –

What you seem to cite as a virtue, thinking people may consider a vice. What you may think of as 'principle', others may consider 'arrogant obstinance'. Sarah Palin is just another egregious example of why Washington doesn't work. Solutions require thoughtful consideration and yes, compromise, not 140 character Tweets. While I may think you to be an idiot, I wouldn't say so out loud.... or did I?

I don't think she is going to run and, to all appearances, she doesn't have much chance, if she does. Even so, she doesn't strike me as either evil or stupid. I just don't get the raw hatred the other posts here express for her. Strange!

Oh the liberal hypocrites are insane with jealousy and envy toward white woman of accomplishment

Sarah Palin may be very good looking but that is the "icing on the cake" where her KINDNESS, HONESTY, and ACCOMPLISHMENTS shine through like no other candidate.

She is "the most vetted" candidate EVER. Thousand trolling her emails to find "anything" that would make her look bad....they FOUND NONE, ZIP, ZILCH. Just "competent governing" from the center.

It's about time America elected a woman who is a walking example of rugged individualism.

She is a Fiscal Conservative, who can Shoot an Elk at 400 yards, run The State of Alaska with 15,000 Employees with an operating budget of $11,000,000,000 billion, and raise a family of 5 kids AT THE SAME TIME.

Obama CAN'T TALK STRAIGHT without a Teleprompter......

Sarah Palin walks the talks, and looks good while doing it!

    Sarah Palin ROCKS!

So shut up.Palin has more sense in her little toe than Obama will ever have in his totsal cocunut head. All he is doing is his best to destroy us. The worst President this country could ever think possibnle. PALIN 2012.

Really, dude? I guess you forgot about the guy who lied about weapons of mass destruction and yellow cake uranium?Methinks you have a selective memory. Oh, here's a friendly tip: there is such a thing as spell checker. Or use Chrome as your browser–it lets you know when you mistype. Lastly, President Obama has a JD from Harvard Law School, and was a constitutional law professor. I'll take him any day over Ms. Sarah Palin. She has a bachelor of arts degree from which she had to attend 5 colleges to attain, and she quit as the executor of the state of Alaska, midway through her one and only term. She needs to go sit down somewhere. And you, buddy, should stop listening nonsensical, paranoid entertainers like Limbaugh, Hannity, Bill O'Reilly (this wanna-be polemicist was the former host of Inside Edition, a tabloid), and all the other blowhards dedicated to misinforming voters.

Education is essential for survival, folks.

"Palin has remained at the forefront of recent political issues..."

No, she just waits for something to happen and then posts on Facebook or Twitter her "reaction" (scripted by her team).

Oh, and then has them write up something whiny to reply with when folks criticize her idiotic stance.

Why can't this woman just go away?!?! Talk about someone who's in this for the photo ops and soundbites, holy hell!!! You, Mrs. Palin, and your miniscule little following need to fade back into the obscurity from which you came, you don't have a chance in hell of being elected because the majority of Americans see right through you for the fake that you are. Please go away!!!!

KINDNESS, HONESTY, and ACCOMPLISHMENTS .... rugged individualism ...She is a Fiscal Conservative, who can Shoot an Elk at 400 yards, run The State of Alaska with 15,000 Employees with an operating budget of $11,000,000,000 billion, and raise a family of 5 kids AT THE SAME TIME.

Whoa, that's a lot of lying in one post!

Explain to me how "kind" it is to smugly smirk when attendees at her political rally yelled, "Kill him!" in reference to then-candidate Obama?

Explain how honest it is to take a housing allowance from the State of Alaska while living in her own home?

Explain how it's an "accomplishment" to quit half-way through your term as governor?

Regarding the elk, who the h-ll cares?

Regarding governing Alaska, she quit because it was too hard – even though it's basically a socialist state, given all the money residents get from oil simply because they live there.

Regarding the raising the family: She went back to work 5 days after giving birth to her special-needs child and now only trots him out for photo ops ... her oldest daughter had a child out of wedlock ... not a lot of raising going on, in my opinion.

Palin always was and always will be:

A quitter, a liar and a mooch (and a lousy mother to boot!)

Watching Sarah Palin working Iowa shows her integrity. How can anyone support someone who happens to show up in States getting publicity not as a candidate while all the candidates are debating and proving their worth. To me this shows her true deceptive being. It seems integrity doesn't mean anything to a lot of people and maybe that is why they love her but seeing what Sarah is doing now and did in New England raises red flags of manipulation and lack of trust that I would need in a leader. If she wasn't being untruthful and manipulative she should be far away from Iowa. This week Iowa is only for the republican candidates.

Palin knows that this is the beginning of the end. If she throws in her hat, she will never be selected by the GOP as the nominee. If she doesn't declare candidacy, she knows that any GOP hopeful in his/her right mind will stay as far away from any association with her if they want the nomination. So, for the "15 minutes" of fame she has left, she is just eking out all the money and exposure she can. She is no a King-maker (never was-look at John McCain). She's history.
