Huntsman's wife to stump in SC

Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) - The wife of GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman will make her first solo campaign visit to South Carolina Monday.

The former governor of Utah is entering the ninth week of his White House run and is still a relative unknown among many voters in the early primary state.

Bachmann to raise money in North Carolina

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann will peel off the campaign trail later this week to raise money in North Carolina.

The Minnesota congresswoman is launching a three-day tour of South Carolina, home to the pivotal first-in-the-south presidential primary, on Tuesday.

RNC mocks Obama's 'Debt-End Bus Tour'

(CNN) – The Republican National Committee offered up its take on President Obama's Midwest bus tour Monday with a three-pronged press offensive including a "Press Corps Briefing Book," a web ad, and radio spots that detail what they've termed "Obama's Debt-End Bus Tour."

The RNC describes the president's effort to engage in a public dialogue about job growth and the economy at town halls and economic forums as "a totally non-political taxpayer-funded administration event that just happens to criss-cross several battleground states critical to the president's re-election" in the Obama critique, which is disguised as a briefing book.

High profile gig for possible GOP running mate

Washington (CNN) - The Republican Governors Association Monday named Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell as the group's new chairman, succeeding Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who announced Saturday that he was running for president.

McDonnell had been serving as vice chairman of the organization.

Buffett to Congress: Don't 'coddle' me

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, saying he doesn't want to be "coddled" by Congress, says that wealthier Americans should pay higher taxes, and that higher taxes do not dampen job growth.

Buffett, chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, wrote in an op-ed piece published Monday in The New York Times that taxes should be raised on Americans who make at least $1 million per year.

Republican contenders faced an altered political landscape Sunday in the race for the presidential nomination as Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann surfed a wave of attention coming off the Ames Straw Poll and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty dropped out.

CNN: Perry and Bachmann duel for spotlight in Iowa
All eyes at the dinner, held at the Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo, were fiercely trained on the two candidates who plan to lay claim to Iowa in the coming months: Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann. Perry was making his Hawkeye State debut one day after formally entering the race and aiming to live up to the hype surrounding his newfound candidacy.
