Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

Well then in that case Michelle Bachman should not be allowed to run since she says that if you don't meet her standards for what is deemed "AMERICAN" you should be sent off to re-education camps. Get back to making pizza's and STFU.

Impeachment will not be necessary. Obama will lose the election in 2012.

Is this guy really serious? If any President ever deserved impeachment, it was George W. Bush. The man totally ignored the Constitution whenever it served his (or should I say Cheney's) desires. But, of course, none of the right-wing conservative nutjobs will ever admit that.

Time is a great detergent! Mr. Cain is pandering to an interesting crowd. I think he should revisit our history and laws regarding who can marry whom; investigate our infamous anti-miscegenation laws ( Laws that enforced racial segregation at the level of marriage and intimate relationships by criminalizing interracial marriage.) Not until 1967, in Loving v. Virginia, were the remaining anti-miscegenation laws deemed to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States. Despite this Supreme Court ruling, such laws remained on the books, although unenforceable, in several states until 2000, when Alabama became the last state to repeal its law against mixed-race marriage.

Someone needs to explain to this nutjob that you need an actual CRIME in order to impeach someone! Submiting a propasal to congress and then signing a bill into law are not crimes, they are in fact his JOB. Deciding not to defend a law before the courts is also within the executives discresition, especially if they can find no legal argument to sustain the law. Congress is not populated by geniuses, they frequently pass legislation that is not grounded in reality. Equal protection under the law means that we are all suppossed to be treated the same. A law that says that heterosexual people can enjoy the benifits of marriage while homosexual people can not is indefensable.

Will someone please give the republicans a dictionary...and show them how it's used? Yesterday they didn't know the contextual meaning of the word treason, and today's brain twister is impeachment.

Here's one for you: Cane (cain, kane, kayne, etc.) A stick used for walking assistance or to lean on. Sometimes used to conceal a sword in earlier times.

You should buy yourself one of those, Cain, and lean on it.

So... Where was Herman Cain during the Bush administration while indefinite detentions, labeling US citizens enemy combatants and holding them in military brigs without trial or access to council, warantless wiretapping, etc.. etc.. etc.. were going on? Or does he only become a stickler for the rule of law when a democrat is in the white house?

Wow, really Mr. Pizza Man. So let's see, trying to fix a broken healthcare system and ensuring that their are equal rights for all is an impeachable offense???????? Look Hermann, I know you think you are special because the Republican party has annoited you their new black FREIND after Michael Steele turned out to be too black for the Republican Party but you are a very ignorant person who needs to shut up and find a real issue to resolve. How would you have liked it if the Republican Party would have tried to impeach Lyndon B, Johnson for signing the Civil Rights act, and tried to repeal the bill, which gave you the right to be considered equal in America???? The things you speak out about actually helped you get to where you are at today. Good luck on coming in last place in the Republican primaries, loser.

If with all the wars he started, the torture he authorized, the money he sent to Iraq that was unaccounted for Bush wasn't impeached. What does Cain think President Obama has done to be impeached. He has not done ONE CRIMINAL THING. If anybody should be impeached it should be every republican in congress. Look at all the job bills the Democrats have introduced and gotten struck down by the republicans. You know the republicans who in 2010 ran on the fact that they were going to produce jobs, and not a one of them has introduced a job bill. Now thinking people have forgotten their lies they want to run on providing jobs again. What a joke they are especially Cain who doesn't even know what is in the Constitution.

Conservatives say "smaller government"... they say "less government"... they say "get the government out of our lives"... more "freedom"... YET they want the government to defend our marriages, share our religious faith... and decide who each of us can form relationships with... These are hardcore Acts 4:32... you will find the "Communist Manifesto"... many people do not realize that Christianity is the father of Communism... The church is NOT democratic... NOT everyone gets to vote for the leadership...

Guess again Mr Cain. The Defense of Marriage Act is in itself unconstitutional. You cannot enact a law against one group of people due to race, creed or sexual orientation period.

Also Mister Cain, was Obama's executor order to pass a law granting the illegal's children free amnesty if they signed up for the military. That is the same thing as a bride for action beyond the control of these children. In most cases they have no choices. No choices in being here and certainly no freedom of choice by making them sign such a faulty law just so he might or the Democrats might gain a few votes during election time. Someone has to stop these Democrats for they are immoral and trying to rise above the law. When you come into the office as Commander-in-Chief you don't start hunting ways to beat the Constitution you start studying how to make the Constitution work for the benefit of the people. So far Obama has only been interested in himself and to his benefit. The hell with the rest of the people. But yet, he still has a following of the people of color. This is mindbottling to me. For they stand to lose many of their free benefits.

Perry calls the the head of the Fed a traitor and questions the patriotism of the President and Cain wants the President impeached. Perry not only suggested that Texas could just leave the U.S., both he and Cain have taken the pledge to Grover Norquist and are loved by the Tea Party. Who are the real traitors who seek to destroy the country????

What is WRONG with these people? So, the concept of impeachment means so little to this PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, that he thinks that passing a health care bill and being opposed to a bigoted anti-gay law is an impeachable offense? The idea would be laughable if it wasn't coming from someone who's actually running for the office. Wow...

Cain is a real fool. How is stopping those that are scamming the health care system by opting not to buy health insurance and getting their health care for free through Medicare/Medicaid impeachable. The affordable care act tries to ensure that these scammers pay at least a portion of the cost for their health care. Currently “we” the honest people pick up 100% of the tab for those free loaders that can afford to buy health insurance but don’t, and instead get free care via Medicare/Medicaid. If these free loaders are made to pay a portion of their health care costs, insurance premiums for “we” the honest people will come down unless the greedy insurance companies decides not to pass those savings down to us. I am pretty sure that most of the folks that oppose to the individual mandate currently don’t buy health insurance. They rile against government but are quick to accept free medical care, unemployment benefits, fat government pensions and benefits, government jobs, want clean drinking water, want safe food, want good roads, want good mass transit systems, want good labour laws and on and on.

Have you noticed that the Republicans rile against big government and they have more headcount in local, state and federal governments that the Democrats? Humm!
