BLITZER'S BLOG: Assad must go – but where?

(CNN) – Now that President Obama has declared that Bashar al-Assad must go, my question is this: Where does the Syrian leader go?

I suspect he can't simply retire somewhere in Syria. The protesters in Syria no doubt would like to arrest him and try him for killing more than 2,000 people in the last few months. They probably would like to see him in a courtroom cage – sort of like what Egyptians have done to their former president, Hosni Mubarak.

Crimes agianst humanity are being committed. Therefore I suggest the International Court issues a warrant for Assad's arrest as they've done with Gadhafi. It's one thing to slaughter innocent people(dispicable), but it's another to torture and kill children(heinous). Assad should be lined up in front of a firing squad and executed.

  2. In order for 15 MILLION to find a job, only ONE must LOSE his.... Fire Obama in 2012

Where is he going to go???? Ahhhh, nowhere. Does Obama honestly think all it will take is his edict to get Assad to leave Syria? If you thought Khaddafi put up a fight, you ain't seen nothing yet! And I doubt the Clueless Wonder on Martha's Vineyard will be sending any jets into Syria get him to leave. Obama just doesn't know when to shut up and mind his own business.

ANYWHERE that allows him no power. At least we NOW have a President who is smart enough to take the time to build a coalition instead of running out on the world stage with a 6-gun shouting and threatening (then yelling mission accomplished). I like that other countries are finally doing their share in helping to clean up this world. Good for them and God Bless them all AND the God Bless U.S.A.

@ blah, blah, 15 million blah, blah:
Obama just doesn't know when to shut up and mind his own business.
Obama is our President and as such in conjuction with other world leaders he has an OBLIGATION to speak up when innocents are being murdered, and tortured by another leader. It is leaders addressing themselves to their counterparts in other parts of the world. You would know nothing about that. Based on your ridiculously stupid comment you"d turn a blind eye to it all, including children being tortured because they are not yours, and don't look like you.
We are intrinsically tied to the rest of the world in more ways than just economically. One of the greatest things about this country is that it's leaders know that the rest of the world looks to us (whether right or wrong) for leadership and as we lead, and opine we impact world events.
Your comments are an embarrassment to yourself, and to us as Americans. In your case it is qutie true that free speech gives you exactly what you pay for: not much.

I am so grateful to have a President that is respected and admired by other nations enough to have them work with him. I am so glad that President Obama behaves and conducts himself in such a way that he commands the respect and cooperation of world leaders. We are blessed to have a President that takes his responsibilites at home and abroad seriously. One that has worked hard to restore the value of our word in the international community, and who has shown his committment to fairness and compassion not only in our country but worldwide through his actions and words .

I will continue to fight with this President for the America that I pledged allegiance to.
May God continue to bless him, and our beautiful country.

"Where does the Syrian leader go"?

Ummm..., why don't we give some part of Bermuda for all Arab leaders who are not welcomed in their Countries. This would be a good experiments to notice and identified the future dangerous Arab leaders, before they take advantages on their people. But, we must imposed travel restrictions on them.

  8. The Greedy Old Pigs have lost their minds!

"And I doubt the Clueless Wonder on Martha's Vineyard will be sending any jets into Syria get him to leave. Obama just doesn't know when to shut up and mind his own business."

And I think you're probably too clueless to even recognize the internal contradiction in what you just wrote. Go back to school and learn how to think.

Good for you Mama 4 Obama – your voice rings loud and clear (blah blah just denigrates and creates negativity - not a useful tool in these bad times). I'll take hope and faith ANY DAY over the negative, hate-filled racism that is running rampant. We're better than that - I mean "WE" not "them" (They know who they are).
