'Idiot' jab lobbed at Perry

(CNN) - Former Treasury official Bruce Bartlett labeled newly-minted Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry "an idiot" Friday.

Bartlett, who served at Treasury under former President George H.W. Bush and as a domestic policy adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, delivered the choice words to the Texas Gov. in reference to his recent comments about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."

Perry sparked controversy when he said Bernanke would be "treasonous" if he printed more money to stimulate the economy before the 2012 election.

"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," Perry said Monday in Iowa. He stood by his comments Tuesday.

Bartlett said the politics at the Federal Reserve are a serious problem and in part blamed U.S. presidents, who he said have historically not focused their energies on the bank.

"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.

Despite serving in Republican administrations, Bartlett is no stranger to GOP criticism, particularly of former President George W. Bush.

Bartlett's 2006 book "Imposter: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy" accused the administration of departing from conservative economic principles. More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party.

Team Perry did not immediately respond for a request for comment.

A breath of fresh, cogent air from a [R]? Wow. Then again Bartlett is from the old [R] party, the one that was still largely controlled by real conservatives. The one today is controlled by rightwing drama queens and delusional theocrats, whose fond hope is that modern America fail so that they can lead it back into the Dark Ages.

As a Texan myself, I wholeheartedly concur, Perry IS an idiot. If prayer worked I would've tried to pray for his idiocy to disappear.

  4. it does matter

People wake up. The Republican Party should be blamed for America’s demise, no matter how you look at it.
    1. Start with President Bush inheritance of surplus that turn into deficit.
    2. The wars that President Bush started that were never accounted for in the book
    3. The tax cut that is suppose to trickle down -that is pure money off the table
    4. President Obama came in with ridiculous deficit, a 1929 type recession and had no choice but to spend. Understand that businesses (GE, Banks, etc) and rich folks that got most of the president bush's tax cut and recovery money had stopped spending. And somehow, they blamed President Obama for spending too much, doing nothing, etc. The house republican stopped cooperating with the other branches of government.
    5. All GOP candidates blame president Obama, but not the GOP Tea party that is hell bent on destroying the country under Obama's presidency. Sen. McCain was decent enough to assault this Tea (Terrorist) party.
    6. Think people, the country is still running Bush’s economic policy -tax cut for the wealthy and it was renewed twice or so already, the war on terrorism, drug program, etc. that were never paid for. The Universal Health Program, President Obama major policy is not in effect until a few years. Yes, Obama has spend money to revive the economy, but this is same (if I remember correctly) money that was passed under President Bush.
    7. Plainly, Obama has been scared to doing nothing by the Terrorist party.

Texas jobs were lucky. They had cheap living standards, so everyone flock there when the north was crippled.
Perry accepted most of the roughly $17 billion in stimulus funds allocated for Texas, the governor rejected $555 million that would have covered state unemployment benefits. the state's unemployment funds are depleted faster than expected, the governor eventually ask for a $170 million loan from the federal government,

CNN won't allow me to post the links, so you will need to research for yourselves Perry's association with the Green Party of Texas. This would answer many people's questions as to why Perry continued to be elected Governor of Texas. Plus, check the recent bill passed by Texas Republicans regarding requirements that must be met in order to vote and the refusal of thousands of voter registrations (Democratic). If you don't believe elections can or are fixed, you will believe it when you research what has happened in Texas under Perry's rule.

Obama and Democrats must be terrifed of Perry.
Americans are pleading for more jobs. The Obama/Pelosi/Reid policies have not produced them as promised and it does not look like they will going forward.
Yet Texas with Perry as Governer has produced around 40% of the new jobs that have been created in America. Under Perry's leadership and policies, Texas is doing what Obama and the Democrats have not be able to do.
Yet instead of celebrating and learning from what Perry and Texas is doing, Democrats are attacking, making fun of and trashing Governer Perry and Texas. Talk about stupid. America is pleading for jobs, only 26% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of the economy in latest Gallup poll, and Democrats are trashing the state and Governer that is producing by far the most jobs in America. Exactly what Americans, especially the unemployeed, will be impressed with this strategy. It does not get more stupid than that.

Labeling that nincompoop an idiot is an insult to idiots. He (Perry) is a mere whippersnapper in this world, but he has bull-sh!t on his expensive boots so he thinks he sounds better than he smells. He's BENEATH AN IDIOT. (I lived in TX twice on contracts since 2001, and the man is laughed at by common people). Perry must have fixed the voting machines in that state.

It is very clear that Democrats and the left can not stand Perry, and think he is and idiot and want him to go away.
But I feel very safe in saying that the majority of Americans who do not believe that the Obama policies have created jobs and especially the millions of unempolyeed Americans, are very interested in what Perry has done in Texas to create so many jobs when the rest of the country is struggling to do so. Americans are desperate for jobs and Texas under the leadership of Perry has been very successfull in creating them. Americans are looking for leaders who can deliver, not leaders who have failed and then blame others for their failure and on top of that trash someone who has succeded.
