'Idiot' jab lobbed at Perry
(CNN) - Former Treasury official Bruce Bartlett labeled newly-minted Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry "an idiot" Friday.
Bartlett, who served at Treasury under former President George H.W. Bush and as a domestic policy adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, delivered the choice words to the Texas Gov. in reference to his recent comments about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."
Perry sparked controversy when he said Bernanke would be "treasonous" if he printed more money to stimulate the economy before the 2012 election.
"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," Perry said Monday in Iowa. He stood by his comments Tuesday.
Bartlett said the politics at the Federal Reserve are a serious problem and in part blamed U.S. presidents, who he said have historically not focused their energies on the bank.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
Despite serving in Republican administrations, Bartlett is no stranger to GOP criticism, particularly of former President George W. Bush.
Bartlett's 2006 book "Imposter: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy" accused the administration of departing from conservative economic principles. More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party.
Team Perry did not immediately respond for a request for comment.

People with degrees in Texas are in the unemployment lines, where are the jobs Perry has created..stop telling that lie and prove it...Come to Texas and see for yourself..Minimum wage jobs at Walmart, is not going to get this economy moving. Bottom line here is simple. The Bushies hate this guy because he wouldn't bow down to them. He told them to quit calling him, that HE would run Texas, not them. They felt dissed, and that is the story. Carl Rove is pushing Paul Ryan you will notice...no love lost between the Bush and Perry camps.

Parry has created a lot of low-paying, little or no benefits jobs. President Obama, despite the Republicans' every effort to stop him, kept our country from going into a Great Depression; his policies would do even more good if the Republicans and teabaggers would put our country's best interest ahead of their own political gain.

As an Independent it is very difficult to have to make real decisions about who's worthy of my vote, as no one person is a perfect candidate for any office. I find in most cases I have to pick between the better of two, and sometime more, polititions to place my vote with. However with this Gov. Perry individual I find that he has a great deal of growth to make before running in the highest office in the country. Frankly I don't know how he got elected. But as in almost all Governers
he 's proven the 'Peter Principle' for his constituents. They were looking at his glamor effect rather than anything substantially intellectual. Imagine what direction our country would head if they were elected? Although I have to say that I saw a picture of Bachman deep-throating a big sausage in the news. We do not need Mr. Bartlett to tell us that; we know it already. Rick Perry does not know anything about economics or for that matter any subject including religion. This guy is running for President and does not seem to know the role of the Federal Reserve. He is threatening Fed Chairman with treason for ...stimulating the economy. Federal Reserve was created to ensure that our country does not get stagnated and has the responsibility to stimulate the economy whenever there is a recession. We need the economy to be stimulated, we want jobs, we want growth.... and Perry apparently does not think so. He would rather have the country suffer just so that he can make a political point to win an election. Does this guy really care about the economy? He never really cared about Texas. All he cares about is himself. if Mr. Bernanke could put some money in Perry pocket, Bernanke would be his closest friend.

The title of this article alone is proof of CNN's political bias. I for one, am just plain sick of it. I honestly don't know why I even check in here. So much for journalistic integrity. One would have thought that a respectable journalist wouldn't resort to name calling. Of course, if you can't logically oppose a person's position, then you attack a person's character. CNN is great at this; however, interestingly they choose to attack Republicans versus Democrats 9 times out of 10.
