(CNN) - The situation in Libya "is still very fluid," U.S. President Barack Obama said Monday.
"There remains a degree of uncertainty and there are still regime elements who pose a threat," he said in taped remarks. "But this much is clear. The Gadhafi regime is coming to an end and the future of Libya is in the hands of its people."
Obama stressed that the battle "was not over yet." He called on Moammar Gadhafi to surrender and tell his supporters to lay down their arms.
"Although it's clear that Gadhafi's rule is over, he still has the opportunity to reduce further bloodshed," he said.
Yes, thank you for that unbrilliant statement of the obvious. I guess you think we're all too stupid to know this already? Obama, a camera whore to the extreme. He should have pursued a career as a TV weatherman. He's got the qualificatiosn, lots of predictions, most of them wrong.
Will President Obama show up on an aircraft carrier with a "Mission Accomplished" banner in the background? With the killing of Somali pirates, Osama bin Laden, and the near end of Gadhafi, President Obama has won the trifecta. The right wingnuts have to admit that Obama is a damn good leader.
Thank you Mr. President for keeping a cool head and not allow pressure from Republicans like Palin and McCain to put in place a no fly zone in Libya immediately without any thought about the innocent Americans and civilians from other countries who would have been captured or killed. NATO and the rest of the World certainly wouldn't have been with us had President Obama taken their advice. Thank you Mr. President for once allowing people to fight for their freedoms as the people of Libya and other parts of the Middle East have shown they are willing to fight and die for just like our military fight and die for us here at home. Thank you Mr. President.
Now is the time for republicans to come out and criticize the president for picking on Gadhafi.
bin Laden (Dubya failure) – check
Ghadafi (Reagan failure) – check
third time's the charm...who will it be? any guesses?
This is what quiet competence looks like in the Whitehouse. No "mission accomplished". No "wanted dead or alive". No" we're fighting a crusade". No "we'll be greeted as liberators".
While outcomes are never assured, good leadership impliments a risk mitigation plan. I have the utmost confidence that under the leadership of Mr. Obama, the lessons learned from the mis-management of the fall of Saddam in Iraq are being applied, as appropriate, in this case.
Now we no why the republicans and Fox say, "He isn't one of us." Republicans could never achieve success at the level that President Obama has. With the end of Gadhafi, Fox will report that oil prices will now go up, and blame the president.
Osama dead. Gadhafi gone. Obama 2, Bush-Cheney 0. See what happens when you elect someone with a brain who places the interests of the country above personal interests like keeping oil-rich dictators happy and making money from no-bid contracts? See you next year, Tea Party drones.
It is AMAZING how all the war mongering leftists in here support a completely illegal war against a country that did NOT attack us or threaten us in any way shape or form, JUST BECAUSE OBAMA DID IT. You all have ZERO base values. Is it now this country's foreign policy to bomb any country that has people rioting in the streets and a leader we do not like? Well, then you must really be itching to start bombing Syria and Iran as well? Totally insane foreign policy.
And then I read posts from leftist loons about it not being illegal because NATO approved it or the Arab League supported it. ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! The military of this country, YOUR sones and daughters, are NOT MERCENARIES!!! The Congress needs to approve war in this country, not some group we did not elect. Have you all lost your minds???
