Wise move. As soon as the hurricane has passed and we know how much damage has been done, the president should call Congress back to DC and make them come up with emergency funds to deal with the urgent needs there will likely be from one end of the east coast to the other. Let the Republicans obstruct emergency storm relief if they must.

This is NOT good enough for the RIGHT – he would have to STOP the hurricane in its track in order for them to be satisfied!!!!!

You and your family be safe, President Obama!!!

As expected. Living on the east coast all my life – I can't tell you how many times our summer plans have been changed due to weather.

Congress should follow suit. Well, maybe not. They can stay on a permanent vacation for all I care.

I'm sure, somehow, someway, the Republicans will find something about this to bash...

Stay tuned folks! It will be interesting to see next week, how many of our elected officials attempt to make FEMA claims on their homes in the DC area, even though they are their SECOND homes!

Expect massive hypocrisy from those who hate entitlements!

Probably a good call for the ol' presidential image thing....plus the hurricane will probably hit Martha's Vinyard worse than Washington DC....just remember, if there is lots of damage/loss of life as a result of this hurricane, you'll want to actually tour the damage, and not just do a 'flyover'....right, Georgie?

Romney, Bachmann, Perry, and the rest of the GOP chickens will criticize and find fault in the way that President Obama is handling this natural disaster. And, none of these so-called GOP candidates for Potus have taken the initiative to show some type of leadership skills by releasing a statement advising people to take necessary safety precautions. Instead, they are all probably headed for the hills to save their own necks.

This is no surprise. I would have been more surprised to see him stay in that area during a hurricane.

Too bad he cannot blow the whistle on Cantor and his FEMA cuts until Cantor actually commits the act.

He's ending it because Martha's Vineyard is right in the predicted path of the hurricane, not because of a potential emergency on the East Coast. I'm sure he'll catch up later on all the missed golf. And as I predicted 2 days ago, he'll use this event to address the nation as the Weatherman-in-Chief. I can hardly wait to see how he does with the weather maps!

This is a great man and he is kicking ass in foreign policy along with standing up for average people, and one has to wonder how great the country could be if he had a congress to work with, and if the Republicans only concern wasn't their party first. If the Tea Party did not hijack and control Republicans there would be a chance to get the country going strong and positive again.

Are you happy now Tea people. At least President Obama has sense enough to get back to work in wake of a natural disaster unlike Dubbya in the wake of Katrina. By the way, I wonder how many Tea people will beg FEMA for government money after their house is destroyed by Irene?

Let me guess the teapublicans will accuse Obama of 'leaving vacation early' of cutting & running. I wander how the GOP will use this against him. What will Sarah Palin say?

President Obama has a lot on his plate but I am beginnning to question why I think we all need to step back and wonder what is happening in the world today. There is so much bickering in DC., hatred against the President and people of color in general. The Lord is sending us a message that we had better get right and there is a higher power to get us in order.
When has Washington got an earthquake, hurricane and there are wars& rumors of wars and fire and brimstone.

American people if you don't believe in prayer it is certainly time to start and help pull this country together. This President has done a good job it is Congress who are acting like jerks. He is trying to help the middle class to get a piece of the pie but the rich want the whole pie they don't want to share.
