Bachmann points to 'great sense of humor' after God joke
(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann defended her recent comments about natural disasters in Washington, D.C. serving as messages from God, saying she was joking.
"I have a great sense of humor and I think it's important to exhibit that humor sometimes when you are talking to people as well," Bachmann said Monday at a campaign event in Miami. "Of course I was being humorous when I said that."
Her reaction was similar to her campaign's response Monday.
The Minnesota Rep. received criticism following statements she made over the weekend that equated the recent earthquake and Hurricane Irene to acts of God.
"Washington, D.C. you'd think by now they'd get the message," Bachmann said at a town hall in Florida Saturday to laughs. "An earthquake, a hurricane, are you listening? The American people have done everything they possibly can, now it's time for an act of God and we're getting it."
At Monday's event, Bachmann said the remarks were intended to tell the president he is not listening to the American people.
Bachman may have a great sense of humor, but it looks like God has lost his. He is tired of these pistachio nuts, using his name, "God Is on our side". NEWS FLASH!!! NEWS FLASH !!!!! God is now pissed, and will continue to smite those who would use his name for their own purposes. Bachman, beware of lighting, it's coming to get your, and you wont know from WITCH way it will come.

As a former republican (staunch Reagan and first Bush voter) and now independent I have to say what every person who is now in my position politically is saying. What the heck happened to my republican party? I know anyone with cash can run for president but the current crop of republican candidates stretches that line of reasoning pretty far. Obama isn't great but I sure can tell you that I would not trust any of these people to cat sit for me over a weekend. Is this the best we have to offer?
For those of you too young to remember take a look back at Reagan and Clinton speeches. After every one of their speeches you felt like you could conquer the world. You felt a little bit better. You felt things were going to be okay. When we went into Iraq the first time you believed Bush Sr. that he wasn't going to have us there forever (and he meant it too). He also kept his idiot Secretary of Defense (some guy by the name of Cheney) on a very short leash. Reagan, Clinton and Bush were true presidential material. You knew they were president. They may have had their faults (Reagan and Clinton had a bunch) but they got things done in difficult times. Can you really see Perry or Bachmann in the White House running the country? I mean, REALLY? Can you get past all the lies, half truths, christian conservatives, tea parties, etc. influences that their election would bring? And now Romney is pandering to these same folks. What is wrong with this picture? Why would you pander to a small group of voters and alienate a much larger group (like me) who really matter? If a candidate can't pass this test I question how they could run a country.

Here's something funny involving her... In June, she kicked off her presidential campaign in Waterloo, Iowa, calling it the home of American actor John Wayne. The town was actually home for a time to serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
