Republicans face off with Obama on speech date

(CNN) - President Barack Obama announced Wednesday his intention to deliver his jobs plan before a Joint Session of Congress on Sept. 7, but Republican House Speaker John Boehner fired back hours later, arguing for a different date.

CNN's Chief White House Correspondent Jessica Yellin discussed the political back-and-forth over the president's much-anticipated jobs speech.

I would like to lock every one of the GOP house members in jail for comtempt of the people. They need to understand they are there to serve us and also should respect our President. They would expect the same when GWB was in office.

I am so angry that this is pushed for NO valid reason. No reason whatsoever.

They need an extra day to figure out a response which we already know – No. In fact they are reading Job Creation and Economics for Dummies as we speak and have not time to create a 1 page counter-bill just like they did for healthcare reform. Just move up the election date to now so I can vote these fools out of office. They are wasting our time by stalling EVERYTHING.

The President lacks a spinal cord. It's pretty sad that he lost my vote on something so simple but emblematic. No wonder the deficit talks were dominated by crazy republicans; at least they are willing to fight for what they believe in, even when ill-conceived or out of touch w the middle class experience. We keep going further right cos democrats lack conviction, that's what it boils down to!
