Giuliani: “I could beat Obama…”

(CNN)-Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani thinks he could throw President Barack Obama out of office — that is, if a presidential election were held right now.

Giuliani told CNN’s Piers Morgan Wednesday, “If Barack Obama remained roughly where he is now, sure, I think I could beat him.”

He sought the 2008 GOP nomination for president, but Tuesday told a gathering at the National Press Club that he would only run again if the GOP became “desperate.”

And in an interview airing on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Giuliani continued, “But I think, you know, three or four Republicans could beat him right now given how weak he is and how his approval numbers have pretty much dipped below 40 percent.”

The former mayor, known for serving New York City through 9/11, admitted that he’d still be tempted to seek the Republican nomination in 2012, “If I thought that we couldn’t beat Obama with the candidates that we had.”

“If I think we can’t, if people are refusing to take up some of the challenges that are out there which include really dealing with spending — because if the next president doesn’t have the courage to deal with entitlement spending along with everything else — and particularly health care — cause that’s really the key — then we’re not straightening out the problems in our economy. And somebody’s got to have the courage to step up and talk about that.”

Rudy doesn't think too much of himself, does he?

The only thing you could beat him at, Rudy, is being an ineffective, clueless incompetent... aw, heck, just call yourself a member of the GOP and that pretty much sums it up. President Obama is intelligent, extraordinarily competent, effective, determined legally elected official who has Americans' best interests at heart and is trying to undo all the damage the Bush regime did. There's no way anyone in the GOP could beat him because they're the exact opposite, and we don't want that in the White House ever again.

No, Rudy, "entitlement" spending and healthcare aren't the real problems, and you know it.

The REAL problems are endless wars that suck our budgets dry, and the fact that the GOP helped companies outsource jobs 30 years ago, and that has finally caught up with us.

Doesn't ANYBODY get it? All those high-paid jobs, union jobs, I might add, that used to be done in the U.S., resulted in a ton of income taxes for Washington. No jobs, or low-paid jobs do NOT result in lots of income taxes. Congress and U.S. presidents have kicked the can down the road for generations, and now it has finally caught up with us.

If we had started developing alternative fuels decades ago, instead of relying on Big Oil, one of the GOP's favorites, we'd have plenty of jobs and not be paying outrageous gas prices. The blame is not on the American public. It's on the two political parties who got us where we are today.

Giuliani would have a better chance at success at beating what could (more than) fit in his hand, than he would in an election between him and president Obama. He's a freaking ego maniac, and does not now, or ever has America's interest first. Sad testament to what could have been an amazing life.

How could someone possibly vote for this man? He has a hero complex. Trouble is, he has nothing to back it up with...oh, yeah, a noun, a verb and 9/11. Narcissist.

At what? Giuliani can beat Obama at what? His time has come and gone. Not insinuating age, but he has no "event" to ride a wave on to an election. Time to let go. Giuliani, like Palin, has had his spotlight and now it's time for them to fade to black. For some reason having perpetual relevance is just a must have for some of folks, but the rest of us are ready to let them move on. Move on!!
