Presidents Obama and Bush commemorate 9/11 anniversary

(CNN) – President Barack Obama with former President George W. Bush commemorated the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took place in New York City on September 11, 2001 in a rare joint appearance Sunday.

The presidents, first lady Michelle Obama and Laura Bush were also joined by former President Bush and Laura Bush’s children, Barbara and Jenna Bush Hager, as well as Henry Hager, Jenna's husband.

The families observed a moment of silence at the North Memorial pool, which sits in the footprint of the North Tower. Following the moment of silence, President Obama and the first lady greeted surviving family members of 9/11 victims and political leaders including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Acctually Bush is the most honorable and respectable of the recent presidentrs. Happy to see him there even if he had to stand next to that Muslim commie Obama. His honor shines next to Obamas poor leadership, Obama should thank Bush for the intelligence that lead to catching Bin laden.L

What a stupid statement from Bush..""9/11 will never seem like a victory? What in Hades name was in his mind when he said that. Of course it wasn't a victory, it was a disaster.. But then he always did think different from the rest of us.

sad day in America today, my thoughts are with the families of those who lost someone on 9/11. It was the beginning of hard times for this country, times we are still struggling to overcome.

I'm so glad Clinton isn't there. If he didn't ignore Bin Laden's threats in the 90's this would have never happened.

You're an idiot! Eight years of Clinton administration used to set up attacks due to poor tracking of terror groups and Bin Laden ...President Bush handled the crisis pretty well if you ask me. President Obama in my mind wouldn't (couldn't ) handled pressure had he been President in 2001 ...probably would have combatted Terror Groups by throwing stimulus money at him! Keep lovin Obama's that hope and change workin for ya?!

To CNN, by hosting your blog for individuals like "diridi" and the many ignorant others who post on your sites, you pertpetuate and encourage the division and hate among the citizens of this country. Free speach does not mean no civility.

Can't believe all the hate I still see across various postings on have to remember....most of the vile comes from the left and I would not be surprised if the 2/3 Americans who the CIA is currently looking for currently are in the Democratic Party...and most likely Union thugs with carte blanche access to this White House...

Obama should have arrested Bush, Cheney, Gonzalez, Rove as enemy combatants on Innauguration Day. Yes under the Patriot Act, the President can declare ANY PERSON, FOREIGN OR DOMESTIC as an enemy combatant!!!

A fitting image with the two commanders-in-chief who have had to weather the storm after those horrific events. May we never forget 9/11/01 and how we all felt that day

    Sept. 11, 2001's legacy:

The Cheney/Bush administration shot the wrong country.

    VP Cheney: deficits don't matter.

Thank God American voters halted these wrongs by not electing Sen. McCain as President of the United States where we would have continued on, scraping Iran off the map using our nuclear arsenal, and continued on with firebombing Libya, and "the issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should'.

May 2, 2011, President Obama takes down bin Laden.

Seeing the two Presidents together at the Memorial presents such a stark contrast. The horrible attack instigated by Bin Laden occurred on Bush's watch and it led to the war in Afghanistan (with help from many NATO allies) and the controversial war in Iraq. The huge financial drain of these wars has greatly added to the economic and monetary problems of the US not to mention the huge loss of lives. President Obama has been ending the war in Iraq and trying to wind down the war in Afghanistan. It was also under his command that Bin Laden was finally killed. It fell on President Obama's shoulders to try and bring back some security and economic stability to America. He has the hardest job on the planet.

Bush/Cheney was handed info about a possible attack on US soil by Clinston/Gore. They were told that they would handle it. They sure did! Bush and Company let their guard down and 9/11 happened. It hapened on Bush's watch. There is no way the GOP can rewrite history on that one. President Obama killed bin Laden on his own intelligence. He told the CIA, to find him, and they did.

It's so pathetic to see and hear so much more hate for Obama than Bush ever received in 8 years. Despite what we're dealing with, people with a brain know and realize that a handful of issues we face now aren't solely Obama's fault. ALL Presidents, ever since FDR, are slightly to blame for what's happening now. All of the wars we've been involved in (that we have yet to pay back fully), the U.S. Credit System, Welfare, etc. ALL of it has contributed to the here and now. Those that blame Obama fully and listen to/believe the hate-filled radical rhetoric of Limbaugh, Palin, and the Tea Party are obviously without a fully developed brain. All that Republican'ts want to do is maintain a hold on power, they care NOTHING about the country's citizens. If you paid attention during the Debt Ceiling debate, the debate that caused the Country's Credit Rating to be downgraded by S&P, you would have obviously seen it. Republican'ts only care about political grandstanding and maintaining their positions in Government. After all, it's because of those who voted in 2010 that they're even in office to begin with. That's what you voted for, and now see where they've all gotten us? NOWHERE. All they can do is argue, filibuster, rant, and stall. The reason the President has any difficulty getting anything passed or accomplished is because of THEM, not himself. Congress holds the power to get legislature passed, NOT the President, unless he vetoes them in some way, shape, or form, and Obama has barely used his veto power whatsoever. Obama isn't the problem at all, it's Republican'ts, since they only look out for those who are rich and better off than the middle class. They are the reason why the Middle Class is shrinking.

    9/11 should never have happened.
3,126 murdered individuals should never have been in danger that day.

Yes, there were warnings that were ignored. The Bush Administration is held responsible for that.

Yes, Clinton was distracted by the impeachment hearings. Again, the GOP is held responsible for that. I have no doubt that every president preceding Clinton (except maybe Jimmy Carter) had a fling. Kennedy had a revolving door on the White House, remember? He fooled around with anyone who could wear a skirt. Newt himself helped spearhead the nonsense against Clinton when he himself was fooling around on his dying wife. Without that ridiculous crap going on to distract the administration and the country just so the GOP could try for a power grab, it might have been different.

Did both the Democrats and Republicans drop the ball and helped cause the 9/11 destruction? Yes, but the Republicans hold the greater responsibility for not heeding the warning signs and creating the situations that allowed Al Queda to do what they did.

3,126 people were murdered on 9/11.
    We do not forget.
We do not forget the bravery, the courage or the sacrifice made by the people that day.
We do not forget that the situation should not have happened.
We do not forget that we were attacked by a group who will burn in Hell for their actions - no 72 virgins for them.
We do not forget what happened that set up the situation for 9/11 to take place.
We do not forget the towers falling.
We do not forget the Pentagon walls collapsing.
We do not forget the hole in the ground from a crashing plane in Shanksville.

    We remember it all.

    We do not forget.

@fixingstupid, Get a life!!! As a member of the right, I am sure you believe you have the market cornered on patriotism. So, go ahead, and be patriotic this once- and keep your mouth shut as a sign of deference on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Then tomorrow vomit out all of the vitriol you want.

Hard to believe all the hate I'm seeing here, from left AND right. This is supposed to be a day of unity, people. To my friends on the left, whatever we may think of Bush's performance as President, in the days immediately following the attacks he offered a voice of reason, he managed to convey both our grief and our resolve. He deserves credit for that. And to those on the right, President Obama has proven through his actions as well as his words that he loves this country, that he is capable of taking decisive action to keep us safe. Put aside the hate for a day and act like Americans.
