(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann will meet later Wednesday with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The congresswoman from Minnesota is also holding fundraisers while in Arizona. The campaign tells CNN that the issue of illegal immigration is extremely important to Bachmann, as it is for Arpaio, who has been very outspoken on the issue.
Earlier Wednesday Arpaio tweeted that he would be meeting Bachmann. Last week he tweeted that Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the frontrunner in the national polls in the battle for the GOP presidential nomination, called him at home and that they discussed illegal immigration.
Bachmann is not the only Republican White House hopeful in Arizona Wednesday. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who's making his second bid for the GOP nomination, is holding town hall events in the state.
Arpaio will be a guest on CNN's John King USA Wednesday night at 7pm ET.

I swear those two were separated at birth.
Two of a kind.
Delusional minds think alike.
Bachmann had better take her papers with her! She looks awfully Canadian. But I joke as Arpaio only hates Hispanics. But he isn't prejudiced. He lumps all the Hispanics together - the resident aliens, the naturalized and those gosh darn pesky kind that had the nerve to be born here, just like their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc. It's almost like they think they're Americans or something. He'll show them.
A Titanic meeting of the minds.
(As in the ship, not the gods...)
That should be special. They can sit around and talk about all those daggumit brown people coming to this country that they hate so much.
The GOP race is quickly becoming like a reality TV show – washed up pseudo celebrities doing anything to get attention.
May a bolt of lightning from the sky strike them both at the same time. They're both worthless.
Nice. This man has abused the power of his office to investigate and charged anyone who has looked into how he conducts business is his office.
What most folks don`t understand is much of the fruits and some vegetables are extremely labor intensive requiring back breaking manual labor.-- Much is done by low paid Mexican labor.- Prices would "skyrocket' if the workers were paid minimum wage, not "contract" labor wages.-- No, I don`t use illegal workers.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Next secretary of homeland security
Country is in wrong direction
Get on the racist bus 'mon!
I find it amazing how conservatives create problems, and then turn around and blame the liberals for not fixing the problem. It has been the conservative immigration policies over the past 30 years that allowed us to reach the situation we have today. Conservatives wanted cheap labor to break unions and they got it in droves.
Now what do we do? Millions and millions of people are here in the US because conservatives made it easier for them to come here and stay. Democrats howled about it since the days of Reagan, who initially made it attractive for those south of the borders. Suddenly, conservatives notice the forest amongst the trees.
What has John McCain done to keep his campaign promise to complete the fence around Arizona to keep out the illegal Mexicans and Canadians??I'm sure Bachmann will call him out on it, and expose his lies to America while she is there!!
I sure hope he asks to see her papers (assuming her home planet sent her here with any).
Loons of a feather will flock together.
And Steve Hirsch will offer them both contracts.
Not that I support Bachmann in any way, Arpio's endorsement may swiftly become an anchor- indictments are on the horizon.,
Lord have mercy !! We already have enough hates going around. We certainly don't need these 2 spilling more in "God's name".
Careful, people of Arizona. There may be enough stupidity and lies at this meeting to reach critical mass, resulting in a black hole of ignorance, lies and fear.
Is she doing any actually work? She should resign her seat so someone else can take over.
