Bloomberg: Jobs crisis could spark riots here

New York (CNNMoney) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is worried that high U.S. unemployment could lead to the same kind of riots here that have swept through Europe and North Africa.

"You have a lot of kids graduating college, [who] can't find jobs," said Bloomberg, during his weekly radio show on Friday. "That's what happened in Cairo. That's what happened in Madrid. You don't want those kinds of riots here."

What could spark the riots is this inept, incompetent union toady president we have going around playing the class warfare crap democrat liberals love to play. Another thing is the fact that his corrupt union pals like Hoffa are threatening to kill us and the even more corrupt Maxine Waters and the poverty pimps are threatenign to send any dissenters to hell. Add to that his the lying Kenyan village idiot now has a website target people who disagree with him and speak out. Very much shades of Stalin.

  2. As GM goes, so goes the country...Unions/Democrats killed GM, now they are killing the country

But riots in the streets is EXACTLY what the leftist/"progressives"/union thugs want. That way they can promise utopia to the people and give them abject poverty instead. It's what happened in Russia and what will happen here if we continue down the road to socialism like Europe has done. So keep voting leftist Democrats into positions of power and it'll eventually happen. Why do you think they harp endlessly on their class warfare? They are beating the drums.

Of course. That is one of the things that might happen, especially if Obama is re-elected.

The Republicans would blame it on the rich paying too much tax.

Riots starting in poverty stricken inner city NYC? I think we all know what the GOPer would blame THAT on...they just wouldn't come out and say it other than when the Freudian slips occur.

"Why do you think they harp endlessly on their class warfare?"

Because the middle-class didn't start it, it's being waged against them, they're losing horribly and are finally trying to fight back. It's that simple. THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE.

The time to get the government in control so that it does not drive more American businesses overseas and does not drive debt to $25 trillion is now. Well, at least 2012. We started in 2010 but will complete the job in 2012.

And anyone remotely informed about what happened in those places will tell you: the number one driving force behind the riots and discontent was a massive, long-standing, government endorsed and cultivated imbalance in the distribution of wealth in the country followed by austerity measures applied to the people who had nothing left to give because it had all already been taken from them to create that tiny class of ultra-wealthy plutocratic elites..

Keep it up GOPers and the only cuts your Masters of the Universe are likely to see will be on the receiving end of the proverbial guillotine.

And they would be about 10 years over due. It is high time Americans started using their artful skills at picketing and force this Congress and President into some real action. They waste so much time pandering to polls, chasing each other's sound bites on camera and thinking things to death before they have their hundreds of meetings and committees, that we will all be starving and homeless before they realize that the need for immediate action is imminent. Half the world is striking or rioting for far less dramatic reasons than the impossible situations that we find ourselves in. If you took just our debt crisis, bank meltdown or insanely unaffordable health care problems and over-layed them onto any country in the mid east or Europe, all out revolution would ensue because they haven't been fooled into thinking that they have it better than every one else. We have been so hypnotized as a nation with empty promises and puritanical all or nothing economic philosophies, that we are completely blind to what we are putting up with and shouldn't be by any human standards.

Instead of rioting they should contact their members of congress and tell them to pass legislation that will get government out of the way of businesses so they can move forward and create jobs. Republicans are already doing that. And I read there are two new bills being written in the House to suspend some new job killing EPA regulations that are actually being sponsored by both a Republican and a Democrat. And if Obama and the Democrats are willing to work with Republicans, the parts of Obama's second stimulus that will actually help can also be passed. Riots will not create any jobs, just put people in jail and the hospital.

The Koch brothers toady republicans in congress need to have riots start in their districts, their neighborhoods. They are obstructing everything they can and trying to destroy this entire country. I despise all republicans I know right now. Let me know when and where.

I don't think you quite understand the reality: BUSINESS IS GETTING IN THE WAY OF OUR GOVERNANCE...not the other way around.

It's not just the jobs crisis. If the media ever decides that we need to be informed about voter supression, or the $16 Trillion our government has "loaned" to Wall Street and the wealthy at low or no interest, all hell is going to break loose. Is that why we're not being told? Or are there other more nefarious reasons?

@Tea Party Mike – how many tax breaks, how many taxpayer funded subsidies do these business have to get? Businesses get all the breaks already, and they're still not hiring. How much more do we have to give? What do you see as a reasonable limit? When are you going to cut the nonsense about supply side (trickle down) economics. It's a hoax. And it's shifted all the wealth to the upper 5-10% of the wealthy in this country. How much longer do you think we're going to fall for this crap before we explode?

If you are one of the brow beaten Republicans that tout the words "socialism" or "class warfare", then you better go check the balance in your bank account because chances that you are just one major illness and a few pay checks away from financial ruin. The republican and the real power brokers of this country have been coasting off your arrogant ignorance for decades. Just because you eat grub that looks better than the dog that lives next door to you does not mean that you have arrived. that's right. So if you're a doctor, lawyer, accountant, or any type of business owner, you have not been the target of the democratic party's call to even out the system by way of taxing the upper 2 to 3 percent of income earners in this country. These are the people who are absolutely so rich and powerful that you never hear their name spoken, never hear them on the news and they sure don't sit next to you in traffic because they are busy jetting back and forth between their companies and their own islands. You are guilty of not asking the right questions and assuming that because the Republican party obscurred the facts for you, that some how you were actually well off enough for anyone to care. Not so. Have they sent you your club card yet.
