Dems lead GOP in Congressional money game

(CNN) - The House fundraising arm of the Democratic Party outraised its Republican counterpart in August, according to figures released by the committees Tuesday.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $3.56 million, leaving them $3.3 million in debt with $7.77 million cash on hand. The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $3 million in August, leaving them $2.5 million in debt with $11.7 million cash on hand.

To-date, the committees have each raised over $40 million with the Democrats at $41.26 million and the Republicans at $40.38 million.

Democrats must win at least 25 seats in the chamber to reclaim the majority in 2012.

Republicans in congress have an approval rating of 12%, which is the same percent of birthers. This indicates that repubs are not getting their money from voters, but from corporations and big money people.

Is it me or is this a prime example of what's wrong with political finances? The Dems have $7.77m cash minus $3.3m debt that means they have $4.47m net. The GOP has $11.7m cash minus $2.5m debt which means they have $9.2m net. So despite the Dems raising $560k more than the GOP in August, saying, "Dems lead GOP in Congressional money game" is ludicrous considering it's a small fraction of the difference in holdings between the two parties.

    I donate about 50 bucks a year – 5 bucks each to party – Dems – Repubs – Communist – Socialist – about 10 of them.
They deliver to my e-mail their story – it helps me stay informed – and gives me points to research and study.
The red and blue must be swept out! That means Obama and Boehner, et al.

The party is over, Teabags. You've successfully become the most hated Congress in US history and given Obama the gift of running against you. Obama + Democratic Sweep 2012!

Obama's unpopularity combined with the excellent results from the current Republican majority since 2010 will only give the Republicans a larger majority after 2012 elections. The Republicans have stayed true to their promises to fight for getting federal government spending under control. Their progress reducing the 2011 federal budget by $100 billion and their determination to continue the fight as part of the debt ceiling increase have been some of the best things we have seen come out of Washington in the last 2 1/2 years. The Democrats will not be able to buy their way around Republican successes like this.

Ok, so if you subtract the debt from the cash on hand you get the Democrats with $4.21 million and the Republicans with $9.2 million, more than DOUBLE the Democrats. Come on CNN.... talk about a totally misleading title!

The more "stimulus" money spent, the more the unions get, the more that gets taken from their paycheck to be funneled to Democrat campaigns. Using your tax dollars to keep the Democrats rolling in campaign cash. They have it down to a science.

You are forgetting the obvious. Boehner, McConnell, House Republicans, Senate Republicans, and the Tea Party in general, all poll lower than their counterparts in the Democratic Party.
