The rocky road to the GOP nomination

Mackinac Island, Michigan (CNN) - While the events of the past weekend raised new questions about Texas Gov. Rick Perry and his campaign for the Republican nomination, several consultants and attendees at a key GOP conference here said they think the race is still moving toward a two-man showdown.

Perry has taken the lead in national polls, but his loss in Saturday's Florida Republican straw poll and criticism of his last two debate performances have given former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney a boost, several GOP consultants said.

"I would say overall people are seeing good choices out there. Maybe that is why Herman Cain did as well as he did. The options are there and good ideas are out there."
This is so true. Republicans and Independents are seeing in such contrast to the current administration so many reasonable and obvious ideas. For 2 years we watched some really bad ideas get all of the support in Washington against some of the most vocal and pointed disagreement from Americans across the country. And then unfortunately all of this time and money spent did nothing to solve the problems they were supposed to 'fix'.

But there are bright lights at the end of this tunnel and it's exciting just seeing their arrival.

  3. Obama's DOG has created more SHOVEL READY projects than Obama's FAILED Stimulus Plan

Romney will be the nominee and hopefully Rubio the VP. "Romney/Rubio 2012" has a real nice ring to it!

There is no republican with good ideas to fix the Bush republican mess. Just more of the same craziness that 'cratered' our economy. And most republicans think that using Hoover economic policies this time, will do something different than create a depression as it did in 1929.

Didn't Obama win in 2008 and clain to have the solutions? Did he have a Democrat House and Senate for two years? Didn't the Democrats control the house and Senate starting in 2006?

FACT is the Democrats CONTROLLED TWO THIRDS of the federal government when the economy collapsed. FACT is the Democrats controlled ALL of the federal government for TWO YEARS after it collapsed. FACT is they contributed to the collapse (many say they caused it with their free houses for the poor) and have utterly FAILED to get the country out of the ditch. The answer to a financial crisis is NOT more socialism!!

    Obama/Biden 2012 - Because 4 years of FAILURE just isn't enough

Flip flopper Romney, Ponzi scheme Perry, Rubio the learner, 999 Cain, sour candidate Bachmann, and more. No one from this list fits to lead the greatest nation on earth.
