Cain: Black community 'brainwashed' into voting for Dems

Washington (CNN) - The one African-American running for the GOP presidential nomination said Wednesday the black community was 'brainwashed' for traditionally siding with liberal politicians.

"African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view," Godfather's Pizza executive Herman Cain said on CNN's "The Situation Room" in an interview airing Wednesday between 5-7 p.m. ET. "I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative. So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple."

Cain went on to explain that his interactions with African Americans led him to be optimistic about his own chances with the demographic.

"This whole notion that all African-Americans are not going to vote for Obama is not necessarily true," Cain said.

He continued, "I believe a third [of African-Americans] would vote for me, based on my own anecdotal feedback. Not vote for me because I'm black but because of my policies."

Cain also weighed in on the recent chatter surrounding Chris Christie, saying the recent reports the New Jersey governor is reconsidering a run for president were hurting the electorate.

"It's not insulting as much as it is a disservice to the American people," Cain said. "Chris Christie has been saying for a long time he's not interested in running. The media is trying to create a story by sucking Chris Christie into race, just like they made a story by sucking Rick Perry into the race."

Cain said the media should focus on the candidates who have already declared their candidacy to give voters a better idea of the field.

Watch The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer weekdays at 4pm to 6pm ET and Saturdays at 6pm ET. For the latest from The Situation Room click here.

Cain has a lot of sense. He has actually worked for a living, unlike a lot of politicians who are smmoth talkers, you know , like used car salesmen, we pay them much more, so we deserve much more. Wake up America, elect a true conservative.

Mr. Cain you forget that Black people already have a Conservative Black in a position of power to base our judgment of the far right on: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. So its not like we are completely unfamiliar with Blacks who espouse a right wing agenda (Michael Steele anyone), its just that those right wing Blacks go far out of their way to let the whites know that they reject any notion that they would help Blacks out in any way, much like yourself. Do you really believe that there exists enough words or catch phrases to convince a Black person to vote for a representative of the Tea Party? Sir, you are delusional.

Here's what he means by brainwashing:

Blacks vote for Democrats because Democrats promise to give them money (Welfare, etc.) and handouts (Like medicare, college admission and job quotas, etc.), and Democrats designed it that way.

Why did they design it that way?

Because a dependent voter is a dependable voter.

    Herman Cain is right.

    Relax, Herman

    I'm a die-hard liberal, and I agree with you.
Of course, I also believe that poor and middle income southern whites have been brainwashed into voting for republicans.
Are you man enough to agree with me?

Wow! ... after reading these posts it is clear, as a brilliant man has claimed, "LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER"!

I find it a bit ironic that he claims that the black vote has been brain washed against the republicns and the teaparty. The last presidential election actually listed the black vote to be fairly low for Obama. What's more, if they want to see why the black vote is so low for the republicans, all they have to do is look at the crowd and the candidates. Their is faaaaaaaaaaar more racism in the republican/teaparty camp's crouds and on stage than the dems have. How often do you see dem crouds touting signes of a black candidate with a bone through his/her nose or people holding up Curious George stuffed animals to represent Obama? Those kind of shinannigans are why the black vote is against the republicans. Would you walk into a mine field if you didn't have to?

Cain is spot on. The man speaks the truth. He hasn't been poisoned by the game of politics, and genuinely cares about this great country. What have democrats ever done for the black community? Democrats just keep them down and prevent them from realizing their potential. What has Obama done for them? NOTHING. He doesn't care about them and takes them for granted. Just listen to his last speech to the CBC...all of the sudden he starts trying to talk like a more authentic black person. He is a complete phony and basically insulted the audience at the CBC by telling them to stop crying and complaining. They are crying and complaining because you have failed them and have no idea how to be an effective leader and get us out of this mess. If you have common sense, you will see that he is a pathetic disgrace to the office of president. If he is elected again, the country is in serious trouble. He just keeps spending money we don't have and try to make everyone more dependent on the incompetent government. Cain for president! Vote Obummer out, please!

Those who know how to manipulate do so through rewards, punishment, etc ...
Which is what the liberal politic is proficient at with other people's tax money.
Too many have been suckered into Uncle Sam's Plantation. Sadly, too many want to stay there while the tax money last or funding last. Trouble is, the generations of dependency will lash out to get what they've been raised to expect with little or no effort of their own.

So 'Brain Washed' is close to the mark. I'd say 'Conditioned'.

  12. The Truth

Well...he's right and all blacks know it deep down. The democratic party is the party of handouts and blacks have been brainwashed into victimhood and thinking the world owes them something. It doesn't. Work hard. Think for yourself and not as a zombie collective. You might actually become a success and make something of yourself like Herman Cain has; CEO of a hugely successful company. Or you can keep voting for more handouts and deeper unemployment and poverty like your vote for Obama did. But we all already know what blacks will overwhelmingly vote for....more handouts

How has the black community benefited by being ruled by Democrats for the past 40 plus years? Higher unemployment, poverty, dropout rates, pregnancies plaque the black community who are ruled by liberal politicians. People on the board forget the history of the Democrats. The Democrats have voted against every single piece of civil rights legislation in history. After the Republicans passed the Civil Rights Act (yes, look at what party voted against it on a 3 to 1 margin and what Democrats..Al Gore Sr (TN) and Robert Byrd (WV)..filibustered) Democrats went on a pandering campaign. They gave out goodies to the black community for their votes and it worked. The black community is controlled by liberals, yet they blame Republicans for the mess. Anyone who can read can learn the history of the Democratic Party. The party that gave the U.S. slavery, secession, segregation. the KKK, lynchings and Jim Crow. Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.

Cain is a prophet. Look at all these brain washed idiots vent there vitriol against a mathematics major and former CEO of a corporation. God forbid if my kids would accomplish that feat. Black people in America are at the bottom of the totem pole because we are ignorant and will fall for anything. A white democrat can come to our churches and change their accent and we will vote for them. Cain said nothing wrong, but look at the idiotic statements these people are posting because they are under the spell of the democratic party.

I have read several posts by whites that state that they would "vote for Cain in a minute". If that is the case, how come his poll numbers haven't budged, even with his "win" in Florida? This is a REPUBLICAN nomination Mr. Cain. You are a Tea Party conservative. YOU DON'T NEED THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN VOTE TO WIN THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION. So you are well on your way.

If a 'white' candidate had said this about African American voters, Cain would have been screaming blue bloody murder. African Americans, Native Americans, and European Americans voted for Obama because of the colossal mess the GOP made after 8+ yrs of GOP misrule.

And Poor White people are brainwashed into voting GOP.....what's your point?

  19. Socialism is a drug

Cain is just emphasizing that the Dems have created a dependency class. They have the American public so addicted to social hand outs that they are as slow of mind and drug dependant as Michael Jackson was Demarol dependant. Everyone of you who looks at Cain and sees something negative are mentally ill. Unable to grasp reality. Dull and slow.

Even if all black ppl voted for obama, all other races votes could have still made McCain/Palin won. oh wait, but, I thought obama was 1/2 white & 1/2 black. Just stop Mr Cain, just criticize Obama for what he did and he didn't do NOT the voters.
Good luck getting the black votes btw.

Wow what a joke, you people white, purple, black, yellow whatever are very racist. Dem's hook the poor with their programs all colors and keep them poor by dependence to earn their vote WAKE UP!! Everybody is born equal it’s just that in life some become not so equal in wealth because of effort not color.

  23. Walk

The American political system is deranged. The left is perverse beyond any human norms, and the right is insular and celebrates stupidity. The middle is drugged and vapid. It's been this way for decades, and we finally ran out of money. So it's kinda over, now, so why not elect somebody who gives not one crap about the gov't, like Cain.

    September 29, 2011 02:59 am at 2:59 am |
  24. Socialism is a drug

When American Blacks are finally fed up with "being taken care of" and come to realize that socialism will fail, no matter how many times we try it, then there is hope for America. Mr Cain is shining example of getting off the plantation and learning to live on your own terms, not waiting to be "taken care of" by some political plantation social welfare "dealer".

And what do you guys want? All I hear is "what does the Republican party do for black people?"..Get off your butt and do for yourself. I'm black and I'll be damned if I'm waiting on uncle sam to help me. We are a bunch of selfish, narcissistic people who only care about ourselves. We are all Americans an we should want whats best for our nation.
