Cain: Black community 'brainwashed' into voting for Dems

Washington (CNN) - The one African-American running for the GOP presidential nomination said Wednesday the black community was 'brainwashed' for traditionally siding with liberal politicians.

"African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view," Godfather's Pizza executive Herman Cain said on CNN's "The Situation Room" in an interview airing Wednesday between 5-7 p.m. ET. "I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative. So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple."

Cain went on to explain that his interactions with African Americans led him to be optimistic about his own chances with the demographic.

"This whole notion that all African-Americans are not going to vote for Obama is not necessarily true," Cain said.

He continued, "I believe a third [of African-Americans] would vote for me, based on my own anecdotal feedback. Not vote for me because I'm black but because of my policies."

Cain also weighed in on the recent chatter surrounding Chris Christie, saying the recent reports the New Jersey governor is reconsidering a run for president were hurting the electorate.

"It's not insulting as much as it is a disservice to the American people," Cain said. "Chris Christie has been saying for a long time he's not interested in running. The media is trying to create a story by sucking Chris Christie into race, just like they made a story by sucking Rick Perry into the race."

Cain said the media should focus on the candidates who have already declared their candidacy to give voters a better idea of the field.

  1. Not brainwashed just liberal to a fault

Al Gore received 95 percent of black vote and his democrat senator father voted against Civil Rights Act. how long to you want to go to a great college or achieve a great career only to have everyone think you didn't deserve it and got there with equal rights. Are you looking for a helping hand from the govt. Or at the end of your own arm. racism of our Grandparents is gone don't depend on others to make-up for the lost opportunities that you can achieve. Maybe Herman Cain actually did that as an individual not as a tool for the 'MAN' who actually, more than any other country, actually wants the best amongst us to succeed regardless of race, religion,ethnicity....that is the conservative ideal that has a deaf ear to those how prefer to be victims first and foremost.

The problem is that every time a candidate speaks of blacks they are in fact mentioning the subject for one purpose "Race" baiting especially Hermain cain for he feels just like Obama that he, Cain has the only chance to sway the black vote, just like now that he is talking about 33% of the black vote! A portion of the electorate that he and only he can capitalize on based on color of his skin! The election of our next President has to be about all Americans not just party affiliation, color, ethnic purity etc: If the media really cared about solutions we would have them for all they care about is every two years we start the campaign game! Big Money!

From an earlier post: "Repubs serve the corporations and Dems serve the public"

In general, politicians serve whoever keeps them in power. Dems will "serve" their consituency to the country's doom... And I'm not a big fan of Repubs either

Cain is right on with his comments. Democrats for years have been hiding the facts that the Democratic party members RAN the KKK with scaring black voters that would vote Republican. Democrats fought with every vote against granting black people the right to even vote. Democratic candidate Byrd was a grand wizard with the KKK. MLK was a Republican until the Dems scared him into submission. Come on black people, quit being "sheeple". Judge people on their content of character not their skin color.

Herman Cain is an American we can be proud of, who happens too be black.

Obama is half American hillbilly gutter trash and half black African Muslim Jihadist.

However, fortunately for America, according to Mein Lord God High Führer's MSM propaganda ministry our savior is above it all: Newsweek editor Evan Thomas : "I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."

    The RNC (Righteous Neanderthal Circus)

That's really weird seeing Cain accusing someone of being brainwashed.
Repubs serve the corporations and Dems serve the public – so the question to you Mr. Cain is when you look around that boardroom or that big tea-bagger revival tent – how many African-Americans are standing with or even near you?

Hmmm, You might wanna see if your master can take that leash off you there buddy. You're being led around like a little puppy. And while your at it, see if they'll take your blindfold off too. LOL!

Cain is exactly right. Only the 'brainwashed' would disagree with him..

Cain is saying what many people have believed for years. But the 'brainashed' media would never print it because it was 'politically incorrect' in their minds.

Cain isn't blood related to Bush or Clinton, so it looks like he wont win..... oh yeah 'Progressives', Obama is related to BUSH & CHENEY! And who knows what intimacies he may have shared with Karl Rove under the redwoods as he was commissioned for his appointment ......
If you really cared about the whole 'neo-slavery' thing, maybe you'd pay attention to who actually keeps an entire race of Americans on a short leash, demanding political obedience, and unleashing the hounds of the media on any black man or woman who dares to leave the democrat plantation....... who are the real racists?

These comments prove that the left is not open-minded, have extreme anger toward anyone with a different point of view and love to call those who have a different point of view repulsive names. This type of behavior is pervasive on the ticker where we cannot reply directly to those who write such repulsive comments.

All of the comments that Republicans have always been against the black community make me wonder how many people know any part of US political history. The Democratic party was pro-slavery, pushed black codes after emancipation, and has always been strong in the south where many are still racist. The progressives aren't extra special nice people, they control with handouts. The conservatives aren't extra special nice people either, they just prefer for individuals to work for themselves. Please read up on history, especially pre 1960's. Believe it or not, even Richard Nixon supported civil rights, and pushed for womens's rights against the advice of many in his administration. Before spewing nasty comments, verify the facts please!

Well more Republicans voted for the civil rights act than Democrats yet Republicans are racist. Democrats tuck little treats in big pieces of legislation for really really rich people. Yet they are the party of the poor. Good luck with that just promise hope and change. You have been duped again and again. If you never quit drinking milk you will never be able to eat meat. It's the Democrats keeping the poor down by promising them an easier softer way.

Me. Cain is absolutely correct. If your idea of helping people is patting them on the head and telling DON'T WORRY I'LL make all the decisions affecting your life, then the CHOSEN ONE is your man. If you want to BREAK away from the GOVERNMENT PLANTATION and be FREE you had better start thinking for yourself. Is the black community better off TODAY than FIFTY years ago ?? If your answer is YES, then you've been asleep a long time. If you've seen no improvement, then you may want to consider other options, rather than continue doing things that have historically proven a failure.

Blacks have been brainwashed into believing that if they do not vote for the Democrat in any election, they will lose their benefits that they have been enslaved by......namely, Welfare, Food Stamps, Section 8 housing, etc. Sadly, it is the Democratic party who has enslaved them with their dependence on these benefits, thus ensuring their continued success in the elections.

Now here's the real shocker. This is the same Democratic party that supported slavery of blacks in America. Go ahead and check your history. Abraham Lincoln, who led the country through the Civil War, was in the REPUBLICAN party.

Blacks have simply traded one form of slavery for another. 'Nuff said!!

Herman Cain needs to watch the video after the FL "straw poll" where FL Gov. Rick Scott is announcing the results. You can tell by the look on Scott's face that it is all he can do to announce Cain the winner, in fact Scott skipped Perry's name so that Perry wouldn't have to embarrased that he was beaten by a black man.

Scott promised the "straw poll" to Perry, how dare Floridians defy what their Governor promised. Herman Cain if your believe the GOP wants you in their "tent" you are delusional.

Cain is absolutely correct. It really disturbs me to watch the Black community vote Democratic every election because the
Democratic Party tells them that the big bad Republicans are going to do away with all the welfare programs. Meanwhile, the racist white Democrats laugh while keeping the Black holed up in ghettoes and lousy schools. The fact that the Black community continually fall for the baloney that comes out of the white Democrat mouth is amazing. One day the Black community might wake up and throw off the yoke of the white Democrat racists and understand that Conservatives want everyone to have an equal chance to succeed and will fight to break the disaster that the white Democrats have trapped them in.

I agree with Cain. As a former democrat, I began really looking at our political parties this past 3 years. I must say I thought Obama would really put America on the map as a progressive, influential country. I felt he would ease racial tension and slowly rebuild America. He has done the exact opposite. I'm no longer sure we can ever fix his damage. Race tensions are boiling. We used to talk aloud about our disagreements regarding Bush and have lively discussions, but now ANYTHING I disagree with is due to "racism". I really hope Cain/Romney/Perry can develop better plans to get America back in line. Taking all my money and passing it out like its free candy is not helping anyone. We have become a country of enablers that punish hard work and reward bad behaviour and laziness. We place more attention on illegals than we do legal law abiding citizens. We have become soft and try to appease all religions (even those that hate and want America destroyed). God Help America.

How can herman be wrong when you look at the facts, Statistics don't lie. Look at the problems since LBJ's great society programs have been implemented. Look at the problems facing the black community today, Yeah, continue to vote Demoncratic @ 90% levels, its worked for you so far. Finally someone speaking the truth, but as these posts prove, blacks are fooled into beleiving empty promises all wrapped up in a nice little speech, when reality tells a different story.

Cain is just the latest in a long line of Black self haters. Blacks are not brainwashed, and in fact are quite open minded. We can see all the voting trickery being perpetrated by State Republicans in over 40 states, and Cain thinks we're brainwashed because we don't support this? I think he's the one that's brainwashed if he thinks he has a snowball's chance in hell of being the Republican nominee. You heard it here first: Republicans will NEVER nominate a black man for the Presidency.

I think Cain is the one that has been brain-washed by the CORPORATISTS (Fascists). If he thinks the R/baggers are for the average U.S. Citizen, he definitely has been brainwashed.

GOP=Greed over People? Really? All the democrats ever talk about is money and specifically-taking other people's money to give to yet another group of "deserving" people. It is simple redistribution. There was a television show that had to do with graft that reminds me of the democrats. It was called The Sopranos, and the dems use a lot of the same tactics. Greed, give me a break. I am greedy because I made it and want to keep it for my family? To take care of them because the dems have shown since FDR that income redistribution has not and never will work.

Even if you took all of the "rich" people's money there still would not be enough so they will go after the middle class-just like they always have. Greed.... You are a moron.
