
Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) - Sixty-five percent of New Hampshire residents disapprove of President Obama's handling of the economy, according to a new poll.
The American Research Group's September 2011 Quarterly New Hampshire Poll also found the president's approval rating in the first-in-the-nation primary state is pegged at 31%.

(CNN) - Mike Huckabee shot down rumors Friday he was reconsidering a bid for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, saying on Fox News Channel that the speculation was "news to him," and that he didn't think he would be able to muster a successful campaign.
"I do not see a path for me, either financially or organizationally," Huckabee said of a potential run.

Washington (CNN) - The Republican Party of Florida and CNN announced Friday plans to hold a debate in late January 2012 that will allow the GOP candidates for president to make a last pitch to Florida voters before the state's primary.
"With the Florida Republican primary now scheduled for Jan. 31, that state's central role in helping Republicans choose a nominee is now secure," said Sam Feist, CNN Washington bureau chief and senior vice president. "CNN is proud to present voters in Florida an opportunity to hear from the candidates one final time before they head to the polls."

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - In a break from his anti-President Obama flame-throwing, Newt Gingrich used a campaign appearance Friday to offer rare public praise for the president on the killing of American-born al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
"We're going to take out Al Qaeda, the way they just did it in Yemen, where I do give the president credit," Gingrich said at a town hall at Iowa State University on Friday.

Washington (CNN) - The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a leading liberal political action group, on Friday endorsed three candidates in campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives.
"We saw over the last couple years that just electing 'Democrats' is not enough," the group said in the endorsement statement e-mailed to supporters on Friday, reaffirming their mission to help elect bold progressive candidates that will fight for liberal causes, most notably a public option clause in health care packages nationwide.

Washington (CNN) - Landra Reid, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, has been diagnosed with stage II breast cancer, according to a Senate democratic leadership aide.
The aide said Reid was receiving treatment, including chemotherapy, in Washington, DC.

Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's White House run in South Carolina is official after his wife submitted the paperwork and the $35,000 required to get his name on the primary ballot.
Ann Romney delivered the papers to the state's GOP chairman in person and told a small group gathered at a Friday morning event in Columbia that her husband is "now going to be actively campaigning and participating" in South Carolina.

But the president cautioned that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula remains a "dangerous but weakened" threat that calls for continued vigilance on the part of the United States despite the death of Anwar al-Awlaki.
