New York (CNNMoney) - Automatic spending cuts.
That's the threat facing lawmakers if the special debt committee fails to propose at least $1.2 trillion in deficit cuts, or if Congress rejects its proposals.
Of course, many people think the process will fail.
FULL STORY
It was designed to "fail" right from the start. Seriously, how can a dozen disagreeable people find over a trillion dollars in cuts over the course of 60-90 days when they meet for only an hour at a time, at most once per week. Do the math, that works out to less than 16 hours of meeting time to put together an umpteen page report. They would be lucky to agree on the shape of the conference table.
With 6 republicans on the panel, it is destined to fail. All they've done for 2-1/2 year is obstruct so that THEY could get rid of our President. That has neen their sole goal. Not our country, not the people, just cause our President to fail.
Fire ALL republicans and TPs in 2012.
It cannot suceed, the liberal democrats that elected this failure of a president have half the seats rather than reflecting the true concensus of the population. The uneducated, unions, and welfare frauds and drug addicts have a disproportional representatioin on this committee and the hard working, tax paying citizens who accept personal responsibility for their lives are under represented.
What if? Don't they mean when? Are we really represented if our congressperson isn't one of these people?
Clowns with Colored Kmart Ties, and Blazers in Sears.....
Things get WORSE, of course.
They're gonna fail, and then they will quietly reverse most of the "mandatory" budget cuts. Until the GOP accepts some tax hikes on their masters, the wealthiest few, there will be no meaningful deficit reduction. And their masters will use their shock troops, aka the Tea Party, as enforcers to make sure.
As for the public posturing, as Shakespere put it and Faulkner stole it,
"it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
Guess what. It will fail unless it fits into the ideological staright jacket of the GOP.
